Jack and Chikas final Topology. On Jack you can see the beginning of the normal map for finer details, like wrinkles etc.

Chikas neck needs some correction and perhaps the hands will also get some more refinement.

This is the final layout of the A.O.T.S.Z.N. Movie Poster.

Theres a lot of cleaning up to do and some elements, like the explosion and the almost unnoticable town in the background are only sketches and have to be replaced with new material. Also every Space Zombie Ninja should have a unique pose and the dog needs a more agressive facial expression. Theres lots of small details to work on and I also wanted to spend some more time on the typography.

The final layout looks cool! :thumbsup: Like the frame - it makes the letters cleaner and it’s more poster-like. Also a good idea to bring up the important “small town” text, it has been somewhat hidden down there before.

A few impressions and last-minute suggestions:

  • you could evtl. give the dog that tongue from the ref photo (it would look funny and simple to do)
  • i wouldn’t line up those aliens in the background like some ballet dancers (i guess it’s just temporary, knowing you’ll fix their poses).
  • not so sure about Joe’s head in the mouth of the background alien. It might be meaningful but the shape of the teeth together with Joe’s head looks somewhat funny imo, and it could be interpreted as a little layout accident. Maybe it would work better if the mouth was wider.(?)
  • don’t forget to keep Chika’s panties visible, if not wanting to get your family movie X-rated :smiley:

I like it! I think you’ve nailed the layout. I also agree with Zoltans points, but this is shaping up very well. Can’t wait for the final!

Agree with the Zokana comment about the Joe’s head over the teeth of the alien. Maybe the alien chief can have a malevolent “lol” expression :D, raising a bit the chin, and turning a bit the face. Only a comment.

I will consider your advices when finalising everything and I have to make clear this is not a family movie!!! Hahaha… children should not watch this movie… on a second thought… even grown ups shouldn´t watch it. It´s super violent and full of black humor! :smiley:

I´ve started to replace the w.i.p. layout elements with high res material.

Explosion and fonts are done, now the characters will be rendered in about 2000 px hight, so everything that still looks blurry will be sharp in the final work.

Chika and Jack are in highres now and the matte is cleaned up. The Space Zombie Ninja Leader is now more evil looking, but also a little more low-key. Jacks goggles and Chikas Katanas are missing the propper reflection maps… that has to be fixed.

Render time per character in 2000px hight is about 5 minutes, so changing stuff and rerendering isnt a problem.

PS: forgot to mention: maybe Jack’s shadow could point into the same direction as the others.

The version with more contrast looks also good, but I think I´ll keep the actual version… looks a little more mysterious. :twisted:

   About the shadows, there are 3 light sources in the scene :
    
   the explosion  -  very bright reddish light
   
   Jacks lightning  -  very bright bluish light
   
   [color=LightBlue]the moon (behind the viewers point of view)  -  slightly bluish, mostly white dimmed light

[/color]Thats why the shadows have different directions. Jacks lightning is so bright, there can´t be a shadow in front of him.

Time is really running now and still lots of stuff to refine and complete… :argh:

Another UFO sigthing in a small remote town somewhere in Kentucky, nothing special… or is it? In mysterious ways, more and more citizens of this little town disappear, without leaving any traces.
