B-Movie Entry: Semih Yaman

#61

Looks funny, promising great entertainment. The difficulty will be to avoid an overall messy appearance, which of course is intended, but needing nonetheless accenting some areas. Did a little PS filtering, showing what i mean: bMovieDraft_semih.jpg, darkening the sides (and the dog), orange shifted to red, green a little more blue(could be less saturated actually), and accenting “NINJAS”.

I would move also the aliens in the foreground a bit more in to make the subject more clear - those heads remind a bit on vegetables at the moment.

Hope it’s helpful…

(btw: i’m working still on my frame. update coming soon.)

Thank you so much, for taking your time and doing the PS work!

You´re right in many of the points, I also thought the new versions lacked some clearness. On the one hand, of course the “a little too much” look is intended (there was even a version with a plane fighting the UFOs in the background) on the other hand this can easily get too confusing.

I played a lot with colors, contrasts, etc. but I couldn´t get a result that really worked for me, so I changed some of the elements. Especially the car is much better now and the focus is more on the heroes. :bounce:

This update is all about clearness, I tried to achieve more order but at the same time more tension, by giving the characters their own spaces. The composition is now divided in Foreground>Alien heads, Midground>our Heroes and Background>attacking Aliens and UFOs. Also the central perspective is applied on all elements, so the whole centered approach is more obvious.

#64

Some more layout improvements…

#65

Looks cool, Semih, but the arrangement is getting almost a bit too clean now (resp. too symmetrical). Perhaps turning the car again?

Looking forward to see your characters!

#66

Thank you very much! You´re right Zoltan, probably mixing the versions will give the best result. This is my favorite version so far and I figured out, adding the car works! In the first sketch I hadn´t decided what Joe would stand on, now that ther´re different versions including the car, I can see this adds to the overall look and I will keep it. Also, I´m pretty sure there will also be versions including the plane!

Some progress on Miss Hayabusa… Some minor tweaks on the face and 3D hair, done with Maxs native hair tool.

To get the right inspiration, I watched some Ninja movies, made in Hong Kong in the 70s. Its not like theese films are hilarious, I watch them only for reference!!! And… i ve already learned something new, a blonde woman can easily be replaced by a chinese stunt guy in a fight scene, no one will ever notice!

#68

Soo sweet - love it!
Hair shadow is missing a bit, especially on the forehead (hair looks like being over the head, instead of on the head). Did like very much the forward pointing hair around the face in your first version, giving a certain wild look. Now all the hair is a bit very straight.
Skin is superb! (maybe a little more bump on the upper lip would boot it)

Hey Semih,

Chika is looking great! Really cool update.
The last composition with the movie poster style looks good.

Cool work and waiting for more updates. Cheers!!

Thanks! Hair shadows just take tooooo long to render, for the next updates I´ll try to be more patient and render with hair shadows! :arteest: A wild look is what I´m going for with the hair style, perhaps her hair should also be a little shorter to get this look… Yup, the bump map will need some more improvements!

Thanks! Updates coming soon!!! :bounce:

Small update on body modeling… The mesh is fitted to the right side of the reference and then mirrored.

#72

Well done! Be careful, your reference has extreme knock knees, looking like a newborn foal

#73

Some more progress on the Base Mesh.

#74

Haha… come on, it´s not that bad! In the new update you can see, I moved the knees out a little.

#75

Hey Semih,

Cool progress. The base mesh is looking good. Perhaps you can make the waist more thinner, and that can help to the legs look more longer, only a comment

Great work and looking forward for more updates! Cheers!!

#76

Thanks Fernando, that`s a good idea. :lightbulb I will also try to add a little stylisation and perhaps even go for a manga-like look.

#77

Experimenting with pose, clothing and overall style.

#78

Nice Chika! Don’t like the shirt too much, it lowers the Japanese school girl look too much IMO. I would stay with a normal shirt, maybe shredded a bit if going for a sexy look. And the pose is somewhat ‘brav’(not knowing the correct English word for it). Evtl. something like this?: http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb56/docsam_bucket/th_Ninja-1.jpg

#79

Hey Semih,

Great progress, Chika looks really great :buttrock:

Agree with Zokana about the pose, and perhaps you need to put a bit more muscle details on the model, Chika looks with a lack of muscular tone, only a comment

Cool work. Cheers!!

Thanks my friend, for the cool reference and your pointers! My goal for all the characters is to make them fully posable, without having to edit the geometry afterwards for a clean look. This way they can be animated posing, I can freely play around with this and perhaps even use a in between pose.

Thanks for the kind words my friend! I´ll see if I can add some more definition to her body. It´s still difficult to find the right ballance between cute and dangerous.
