Hi guys. I’m new at all this so any criticism would be greatly appreciated!

This is the idea that has been bouncing around my head.

I will have some initial renders up within the next couple of days.

Welcome to CGSociety Paul. Good luck with your entry. I like your initial sketch. It’s Screaming B movie!

Hey Paul,

Nice concept and sketch, grreat potential on it  . Good luck and waiting for more updates. Cheers!!

Hi guys, thanks for the comments! I have been playing around with my main character but he still needs a lot of work. The Jaw line looks a little wonky and I need to go into way more detail.

The problem I have is my embarrassing amount of polygons so I am filling my hours watching retopologise tutorials so it may be a while until my next post!

#6

Are you using Maya… Cause the NEX Plug in it pretty awsome for retopologizing.

Not affiliated with Nex, just have tried it and liked it.

#7

Cool character. looks like he could be Launchpad’s great grandfather. Well, if Launchpad wasn’t a duck, that is.

awesome idea and I really like the style… Your head sculpt is looking nice and sharp… Good luck!

I’m back! I will be posting more often from now on. Thanks for the comments. Launchpad was lurking in the dark recesses of my mind. I can totally see the resemblance!

I’m not using Maya, I only know Z-brush, but I intend on learning some more programs to render the final image. I’m still battling with my polly count. I am trying decimation master but even that is struggling!

Hi Paul!
Very nice concept, also the UFO crash looks very good

Keep it good work!!!

#11

Thanks Nikola! Funnily enough I was admiring your flying saucer last night.

#12

Wow. I like it already. The layout on the concept poster is a wonderful start. It really speaks of a movie and the imagery carries a promise of swashbuckling action that is going to be totally unbelievable and fun. Great start!

#13

Thanks for comment browndljr. Swashbuckling adventure is exactly what I was going for!

Here is my WIP of ‘Conrad’s’ faithful steed. It still needs a lot of work! I think it’s a little too cartoony at the moment. I plan on spending more time on Conrad himself tomorrow. I am hoping to get some teeth in him so he can dazzle you all with his charm!

#14

I just thought i would play around a bit in photoshop with a few of my unfinished stills. It looks a little too much like a 40’s war propogada poster but i was just wasting a bit of time before going back into z-brush! This will look nothing like the final.

#15

I was playing a bit with colours here. I’ starting to sweat a little! time is tight.

And to all the ladies out there, no you can’t have his number. He’s married… to his job. Which is shooting down Aliens. You don’t need women when your an alien killer.

#16

Hi guys. I promised myself not to burn my time in photoshop any more so I’m back to modelling!

I think I have finished Conrad’s face so I will concentrate on getting the helmet finished next.

I was losing sleep over learning a new program to render my final image out of. But I stumbled across this tutorial that I found really helpful so I thought I would share it.

It’s real handy! Any feed back is more than welcome, positive or negative!*

*if it’s negative please also include your full address and working hours.

Swoon. This looking very promising. Really looking foward to seeing the airman jacket. Definitely worth pushing hard for the finishing line - the survival of all humankind rests on the Space Aces shoulders! God speed!

#18

I have been working a bit on the layout. My main character is all but done modelling wise. I still need to finish the plane and I haven’t even started the 3D text. Doubt about me finishing is creeping in!

#19

Keep going man! What other daring Gentleman is available to vanquish the aliens? None I dare say.

#20

Gosh-darnit, you are absolutely right Mr.Brown! That was irresponsible of me to even think about quitting. Without Conrad patrolling our skies we would all be talking Martian!

On a side note, if there are any alien lovers out there, look away now. There were no ejector seats in the 40’s.
