Nice work ! Good luck !
B-Movie Entry: Patrick Schemat
i apologize, ladymedusa. maybe - there are some days left - i’ll finish the old one, when there’s nothing more to do.
ok. this is my first wip of the new idea. canvaz resized, started blocking and went into some detailing. the lower right corner is reserved for the title. i wonder what difficulties i had where the single eye should be staring at! x_X
redesigned head of the maneater and added another one i the lower right corner, which originally was reserved for the title.
working on little things like the gun, the torn off head of a soldier and the planets edge. don’t know if i should stay with the color of it’s horizon.
feel free to comment
extraterrestrial greetz,

I still like the pees man!
Is a pretty render! I see all you cgportfolio! very good!
first, i like to thank you for your motivating comments. you guys rock!
so, now the real fun begins.
added for the lower maneater a trunk (proboscis) pulling at the womans leg. darkened the upper alien to give it a more gloomy look.
added some more senseless gore (skeleton)
thinking about adding some dirt, sweat and blood to the woman and her chaser to avoid a too sterile appearance. perhaps kind of slime may also be useful?
next step will include detailing of the planets surfaces.
of course, the image doesn’t show an originally b-movie look. but i think, there can be b-movies today and in future, too. this might be one of it.
ahh you’re at the fun part, i’m really impressed with the slimey feel to the aliens, you seem to have little trouble creating complex compositions. The only thing at this stage that stands out to me is the scale of the mans head in the grasp of the aliens hand in relation to the main female character, its quite a large noggin.
anyways may the fun continue
Best

[edit] on second look i think it is a montage of imagery as opposed one coherent image. Both those creatures are the same one?.
hey light, thank you, your work for the challenge is amazing!
these are not the same aliens.
perhaps i should vary their heads a little more, eventually by adding kind of different skinpatterns.
the upper, larger one should be an alpha of the maneaters, the lower one is a common hunter.
Nice nice. I’m starting to like it
I like how the two aliens are really consistent, but they might be a little bit too similar to each other for to different species
yup, i definitely will vary the hunting alien to make it easier to differ between themselves.
i also will completely rebuild the lower section of the work to give it a more dynamic touch.
as it is now, it’s… boring. :argh:
so, i will post in the next hour(s) an update.
extraterrestrial greetz,
bran
here it is.
woman and hunter fighting, another perspective and more senseless gore ™!
to separate upper and lower half of the image, the action scene has other lightsources than the upper one, e.g. the muzzle flash as the primary light, some dim diodes as secondary lights.
for the upper half, i’m thinking of adding a distant star from half behind the clouds as an subtle light source.
the planet in the background is still wip.
hope you like it!
extraterrestrial greetz,
bran
edit: the direction where the single eye of the upper alien is staring, finally i’m happy with this one.
working on the lower half, that’s a true challenge for me.
in the upper half added a star half behind the clouds as an additional light source, dunno if i should let it there or just take it out…
much problems with the cloud to the left of the upper alien sigh. i would like to let it in, but have no idea how to make it more fitting to the rest of the upper half.
while working on the image, i can see more of a modern b-movie.
only a minor update, because i’m additionally working for a current 3day-classtest and i don’t have much time to spend for the challenge. x_X
working a bit on the lower creature and the woman.
hope to post soon a better update when i’m finished with my test.
extraterrestrial greetz,

on final spurt.
some color corrections, gunflare and working on details like the ground, highlights and some darkening
although this is almost finished, i’m not sure to submit this work as a final. the lack of comments wether if they’re bad critique or good ones show me that i’m perhaps working into a totally wrong direction.
another idea has come clear to me in the last days, something that fits more the b-movie theme, but i don’t have done a decision yet.
let me pleaseplease know if there is something that’s not good. i’m mainly into the challenge to learn from others and to improve me
extraterrestrial greetz,
bran
This is coming around really nicely
This is close to perfection if you ask me. Changing the gunflare was also a nice catch.
Whit that being purple it seems a slight bit more plasma-ish or sci-fi-ish in my opinion.
Great work all round but i’m defiantly a fan of your second idea. i thought that really nailed b-movie
Gosh that is all shiny now, your rendering is spot on. It does have a definate B-Movie aesthetic to it, especially down to the colours you have selected, almost classical martian colours …
I read you have a 3rd idea formulating, would love to see a scribble of that regardless.
“Teh Brain Melt0rs” still works a treat for me FYI, it still holds “chuckle” value and possibly holds a stronger B movie aesthetic to it…You thought it was messy from memory, but as a veiwer i never saw that…i saw a robot, brain people and 2 bananas, haha.
hey 40 odd days to go 2 strong concepts possibly a 3rd…imho thats a cool position to be in
keep positive
Marley
thank you for your feedbacks, ladymedusa, emptyshell and lightsovereign.
while finishing this work, i will tomorrow come up with the new idea, which contains many elements of the “invazion of teh brainmelt0rs”-concept.
perhaps i will go for a more cartoonic style, that would be a great challenge to me.
Nice sliminess and lighting; love your materials. Composition is still lacking something though. Also the proportions seem wierd = the guy’s head seems too big in comparison with the girl, especially because she is in the foreground and his head is further back. I feel like this image would also benefit from something in the background. My eye is led up the road but there’s nothing to reward me when i get there, just clouds. Keep up the good work
