B-Movie Entry: Miguel Angel Hernandez Salinas
This is my concept for the entry: A pair of kids with 3D glasses. One kid running away and the other kid staring at the monster as it were part of the advertisement of the movie
Those are some movie theaters around the world. I always loved old theaters so I’ll use them for this challenge.
I’m mixing some buildings so I can get a very interesting architecture for the theater. All done in 3D studio max
This is the scenario for the image. I’ll change lots of boxes into buildings. I’m still planning the alien
An screen cap of my alien. I loved the model but when I realized…It did not have any UV mapping!!
I forgot to do in MAX so I tried to map a 260k geometry in MAX and it crashes.
I do a 1 day totally labor to remap in BLENDER this error of mine.
I know that it would be more faster to do my mapping and then sculpt, but I liked too much this model, so I keeped it “as is”
And this will prove my computer capabilities

Hey Miguel Angel,
Cool concept, like a lot the idea
The secenario and the first stage on the model of the monster look great. Nice old cinema , really cool touch for the concept.
Good luck and waiting for more updates. Cheers!!
I really appreciate your comments. I hope to end this with a “surprise” for the viewers!
…and I hope to have more time for this work
Now i’m doing some texturing work. Soon the alien will be finished and integrated into the scene.
Still have to work in the kids…and tha alien tentacles!
Oh my!..:-o
Today’s work in the texturing process. For the cinema I used a texture of painted bricks mixed in a composite map with a gradient ramp for the tones.
About the street lamps i’m not sure… maybe I use only 2
Still have a lot of things to do!

Now I have put the alien in the scene.
The scene was cut with some slice modifiers and the debris was particle flow.
I want to know if I should keep the helmet or just change the material of the helmet…
Still missing some texture work, some smoke, tentacles, ray guns, the kids…uff!
This is the third time I participate in this cgsociety contests, and this time no one has viewed my entry.
This is too bad…
Here’s a screenshot of the scene so far showing a unwrap of the 260k polys from the alien head.
I hope someone can view this work and comment something

Hey Miguel Angel,
The scenario looks great so far. The athmosphere and lighting mood work really well with the concept.
Like the helmet for the monster and the color glass on it. Maybe is a bit dark, but you can add some glowing details on the monster to show up the shape and form of the head through the glass helmet. Perhaps the lamps are a bit bigger in reference with the building, Only a comment
Nice work. Looking forward for more updates. Cheers!!
Certanly I’ll do FERX!
Still i’m trying to get the mood I want
Thank you so much for being the only people who have done comments on my work!
The scene are working fine. I just need detail the light, add some debris, texture for the far buildings, model, rig and texture the kids…
Uff!
Hope someone read this post
Hi! Nice update. I like the gun’s rays and the barely visible features of the alien.
With all the work still to do, I wouldnt worry much about texturing the far buildings (unless you suddenly find yourself with plenty of time left), theyd be quite dark against the sky anyway. Maybe you should work on the lighting, because the foreground and the dark orange evening sky don’t seem to match. Especially the walls of the cinema are too white and clean. Maybe add some texture details to them, like cracks where the wall broke or dirt and stains in general.
Good luck with the kids, they look nice in your sketch!
cheers

Thank you for your comments on my work!
You’re right! I’ll need more adjustments on the lighting…what i’m trying to match is a back light sunset.
Today i’ll update the texturing work and next thing to do is the kids. Still is a lot to do!
The time worry me because I only have 2-3 hours maximum at midnight to do this work…
I hope to finish soon!
Thanks again archaeotect!
