I’ve been working on the mummy and some background elements including the vents. I also tweaked the projectionists head a bit (thanks Walrus). TONS left to do!!!
B-Movie Entry: Michael Ulrich
This is looking most awesome Renderspud my man!! I am so looking forward to seeing the finished peice, the details on each character are so cool!
WOW… Only two days left. :hmm: I don’t know if I’m going to make it.
I’ve been totally out of the loop for the last couple of weeks due to some unexpected blips in this journey that is life.
I’ve got tons to do to try to finish this on time and am having a really HARD time trying to gather enough creative steam to get this going again and put in some late-night hours.
Anyhow, thanks for the comments Paperboy. I appreciate it.
Man…I still have so much to do. The roof, Kong, shadows, the rope and sign, the floor, ufo’s… oh boy.
In an attempt to get things done before the deadlince I’ve cropped into the image and lost the Creature and his gal pal. I still like this layout and it is finally starting to come together. I think I am going to have to take a vacation day tomorrow to get this presentable.
Very sweet image. All the classic characters from horror movies. I especially like the camera guy. Looks like he’s mad.
Software: Photoshop
Fresh out of a 50 year retirement, the intrepid band of retired monsters strip off their B-Movie laurels and commandeer the old theater’s projection booth.
Proud of the endless sequels they inspired, the ghoulish gang prepare for a wild night of food, fiends, frolic, and fright…as they try to bring their glory days ‘back to life’.

This image was inspired by the old classic horror monsters that scared the stuffing out of me as a kid. They used to have a late-night TV theater in the early 70’s called Science Fiction Theater and I used to stay up late and scare myself sleepless. My favorite monsters are in the image.
I based my monsters after the ones I know inspired a miriad of B-Movie sequels. They are loosely patterned after:
The Wolfman (Lon Chaney Jr.)
Frankenstein (Boris Karloff)
Dracula (Bella Lagosi)
The Mummy (Karloff)
Vincent Price (Himself)
The Blob (Itself)
King Kong (1933 version)
This was fun to do but I ran out of time and had to cut the The Creature From the Black Lagoon. I was bummed about that…although, he didn’t have as many sequels as the others
Anyway, this was a great contest with TONS of great stuff! Thanks for critiques and helps along the way!!
Congrats on finishing! Glad you had time to get all of this done. It’s a shame about the creature from the Black Lagoon, but it was a good time-saving decision to trim him and it didn’t leave a hole in the canvas. Good luck! ![]()
Simply Classic! :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: <------ This is what their doing in the theatre.
Outstandingly Supurb Piece!
Hey bro! I loved the way you preserved the original characters look and added his colorful and realistic style. Excellent!
That looks great Mike, although you dropped the dame
I can’t say anyhing lewd because of who the model is
Did you use yourself as the model again for Godzilla? Hehe…
Seriously though, great job. Mike FTW!
Thanks for the kind words guys:blush:
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this final. I think it turned out OK but I had a lot more I wanted to do with it and I just ran out of time. Such is life tho.
I might pitter with this over the next few weeks. I had some little suprize characters that were supposed to go in the background and few other little things that I never got to.
Anyway, it was fun (except for the last two days:banghead: ) and I think I’ll keep on with this so that I can use it in a portfolio some day.
Thanks again!
hi michael,i am sure nobody really satified with the result(99% max),i guess.
but to be honest you did a great job my friend!the biger version just great. i can see all the details.

Awesome final piece!! Loved the characters and their facial expressions. Congratulations mate on finishing it, and good luck with the comp! :bounce:
Very funny image! Love all the little things going on, particularly the wolfman’s insane expression and pose, and the blob oozing trough the projector’s window (which I discovered only after a while). The composition works well and wasn’t hurt by the cropping (though the creature from the black lagoon is one of the coolest rubber monsters around). Great entry!
