Hola Amigo, and thanks for the greeting, Hope it’s not to late, even though it is, but I’m glad I’m in now!
It may become a very small scene though, hope you keep watching!
Have a nice weekend!
Cheers!

Another “They came from…” with a tiny twist to it! He will have hands later when I start the 3D work, I’m not that good at drawing alien hands, and it was an old sketch!
Have a nice weekend all!

#5

Cool! You’re entered! That’s great news. It is definitely not too late to take part. Besides, you’ve almost overtaken me already :wink:

Nice sketch of the alien

#6

Blocking out the shape based on the initial sketch!

#7

Thanks Mark! Overtaken? no way man, not a chance, your style is too unique!
One can always reproduce a Rembrandt, but not a Mdavid,
can’t be done!
:wink:

#8

Hey! You’re in after all - nice!
And good start for the alien - he looks more scared than scary :wink:

#9

Hey Mathias,

Really cool and funny character. Love the design :smiley: The little hands and feet put a really nice touch on your character, great!

Great work and looking forward for more updates. Cheers kompis! :beer:

Gunilla;
Thanks for stoping by! Yeah, I was kind of “persuaded” into this! I guess we all know who to blame if and when this goes south! lol!
About the facial expression, you are right, scary it is, but I guess the final render will go good for that!
Let’s see!

Fernando;
Mucho graciä amigo, glad you liked it! i realize that small arms and hand can cause some limitation to his poses, for example when he wants to pick his nose, or rub his chin, he can’t even clap his hands, well, I will try the best I can with other poses!
Cheers!

#11

Look who entered :beer: have fun mate looking good already :arteest:

#12

Hey, very funny character!!!

Good Luck !!

#13

Excellent alien, buddy. I hope you can find the time to work some more on it.

I’m not bothered by the short arms. My observations of human kids (who also have big heads and short arms) is that they can always find a way to pick their nose.

Tony;
Hi buddy, and thanks for the welcome, I’m really happy I joined in, even it made me put some important projects on the shelf! Been looking into your thread a few times, still no updates.
Hope everything is ok with you and you are thriving with your new job!

Arturo;
Hola amigo! Thanks for remembering me and your time!
I wish you could be entering this time, your fun style fits perfectly in with this theme, but I guess you must have been busy, but how about next challenge?
Hope to see more of your works soon!
Cheers!

Mark;
Thanks a lot, buddy! Yeah, those kids! hehehe!
I have now made time for this proj, only my system crashed last week, and I haven’t got it back from repair yet, just preparing the smaller stuff on the Laptop, will post the ship quite soon!
Having shorter limbs on the alien has actually proven to be pretty educating, trying to achieve good poses, but it’s fun!
Be cool, man!

#15

Oh my, sorry to hear about the computer crash (but secretly happy I’m not the only one with a broken disc) :smiley:

Looking forward to your update - can’t imagine how his ship will look!

#16

As a cartoonist I often drew characters with limbs too short for their pose. My way of dealing with it was just to make the limbs longer when I needed to and shrink them back again in the next pose. Now, that’s a secret I’m telling you. I’d hate this kind of admission to be leaked out onto the internet :wink:

#17

the new job is taking all my time so far but it`s Fun :bounce: I will try to make updates soon :wip: now I want some updates here :arteest: :beer:

Gunilla;
so glad to see your reply, that means your are on the recovery path, and in the right direction as well, great! Please take care and get well soon!
On the ship-side, I hope it doesn’t come too dissappointing, it might look a bit cheesy, but wait, isn’t it what makes a B-movie, or at least a B-minus? No? :blush:
On the crash-site, hehe, it’s taking too long for my patience, so I invested in a new system, 64 bit for a change, whatever that might mean!

Mark;
No worries mate, your secret’s safe with me, promise!
I’m really “flattened” for the hot tip, makes a lot os sense, scaling up the right joints, posing, and reset the scales, Doh, why didn’t I come up with this before!
Thanks a lot brother, gonna hurry test the workflow!
Owe you a big favour now!
:thumbsup:

Tony;
Very good news, that you got a fun job, just hope it’s not too much fun, so you forget us and CG!
Still awaiting the update on the modeling!
Be well!
:slight_smile:

Originally modeled in Rhino, this is the result without the detailing, next step will be shading and pre-lighting, and conversion to polys!
Have a safe flight!

Bravo! First the alien and now the space ship. If this was a real B-Movie I’d already be putting my feet up on the sofa and planning on spending the next couple of hours watching the screen. I like the design of your space ship a lot. The mix of symmetry and all those curves gives it a great alien look. It just screams ‘flying saucer’. But of course if you saw one flying past and it landed in front of you and your alien stepped out and you called the police they’d still just tell you it was a weather balloon.
