- ‘The story is the primary component and is the most crucial element in all judging. The emotive impact and implication of “the story behind the image” is the aspect that is most important.’
There’s a difference between make a story and make an image. what you should NOT do are: I’m gonna write an interesting story to win, or, i’m gonna do an image for this story and tell ppl what the story is about. The worst thing to do is give like 5 paragraphs of writing along with your image. If ppl don’t read the writings they will not understand what your image is talking about. epic fail.
Here’s a real defintion of what story is when creating an image: WHAT CAN THE READER UNERSTAND FROM LOOKING AT YOUR IMAGE. That’s what story is. The story doesn’t necessarily describe a beginning, a mid, and an end. The story describes a moment.
taking two mighty kings for example. the two mighty kings tells a story that two kings are about to start a fight. PERIOD. they look at the image and go “that kong is bad ass and the little guy is gonna get owned!” That’s the story. what it doesn’t tell is: once upon a time in this whatever land there’s this monkey and his mom died and he went to the village and he met this human girl and they date and this old man comes and goes ROFLAMO you can’t marry her unless you go defeat Kong so he went to pick on kong and got his a** owned.
So ask yourself, what is your REAL story and how to tell your story through the image.
