B-Movie Entry: Imkan Hayati

#81

Finally got the base mesh of the woman in the main scene, and of course the night gown is in and textured. I have to fix the tongue abit, since it cuts through her arm at the moment.

The chicken is now done, I increased the bump on the tongue and skin a little.

Next I will fix the issue I mentioned, Finalise the Poster elements and get the woman and the hair done at the same time, so little time left!!!

#82

The building looks great! the reast is still a bit confusing!

#83

Hey Paperboy,

Really great work, cool progress. Like a lot the dress and think the satin texture can work really well.

Think a bit translucent on the crest can work well ( perhaps not too much tan your previous test, but the translucent crest put a cool organic and flesh touch over that creepy chicken :D)

Perhaps you can try the woman on a position more near of the cam, more in perspective (foreshortened) with the chic kong head.

About colors, I like your version on sepia tones, put a cool old touch on the poster.

Great work and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!

whitemagus: I’m not sure why you are still confused with the rest of the image? I can understand the confusion at the start when it was very basic. Anyways glad you like the buildings.

Ferx: Thanks mate for the helpful comments  The Crest bit I agree with but will be polish if I have time, as for the woman, I am going to rotate her so that her silhouette is a better one, but at this stage I don’t really want to change my comp. Your final point dirty up the poster, well I was doing that anyway

So yeah I have been working on finalising the poster design, and here it is, added a border, changed the Hell and Bird text again, and also enlarged the whole writing, and added oldness to the poster.

So back to working on the girl.

#85

Wow great work on the poster, it looks realy authentic. I like the way the lighting also effects the text.

#86

Hi Paperboy
I tought it was confusing because I didn’t understant what was the monster, it looked like some weird alian (problably because the laptop was on low batery mode witch darkens the monitor) but now on this final image I’ve realised it is a giant chiken it looks great, a solid image in a few words!

#87

Damn! I think I just became a vegietarian

The only thing I can suggest is a little bit more specular on the tung. To make it look slimier or you can have drools hanging from the tung.

That is if you have time

Well anyways with or without it it’s looking great.

Good luck when you get this done.

#88

handlebar: Thanks dude!

Whitemagus: Cool, glad you like the chicken too

Aven99: Thanks!! Yeah I agree, more spec on the tongue, will play around with that. Great idea about the drool, as you say that would be time dependent :P.

I was hoping to have finished modelling the woman this weekend, but had tonnes of other chores to do :(, I finally managed to retopologise her, which I needed to do to make sure I have enough res in the places I want, like the face, and to have the whole body as one mesh, rather than stuck on hands and feet. I also started working on her fainted facial expression.

Tomorrow I really have to clean up the mesh and get the details I want on, which will be nails, and the facial features complete. Will also work on the hair at the same time. Panicking a little now!!!

#89

I like the progress of your work, the image looks like a true movie poster.

#90

ohmagatsumi: Thanks for comment of encouragement!

Well I have cleaned up the female character, added the details I wanted, I didn’t want to go to high detail, one I don’t have the time, and from looking at most B-Movie posters, they aren’t so into detail.

So I have also created the diffuse texture, painting her up in ZBrush, I still have to create the spec and sss texture for her, which I will do once I get her into Modo and the scene.

Again with the texture I wanted to get the feeling of skin, but not over detail it, as I wanted to give her a doll face look.

My aim is to get her into Modo and positioned they way I want, this evening and get the textures done, and do some lighting work on her, and do any other minor scene tweeks.

Then will concentrate on her hair

#91

Nice modeling (very very), I think the tong need more slime too  maybe a bit like Venom’s tong ?

the composition is great, very dynamic, and oldschool poster effect is very well aimed (I hope this mean something in english)

keep motivated ! (and thank you for the kind words :) )

#92

FeD: Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

Well I have been working on modelling and detailing the hair the past few days, so will work on it some more tomorrow.

I have the final textured woman model with spec and sss map in, the scene and have worked on lighting and positioning her.

#93

Hey Paperboy - One amazing building and chicken! Any hint how the story ends, (warning attempts at humor) does a chicken franchise like Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) get the remains? If we combined my broccoli and pineapple with your chicken we may solve world hunger.

#94

LOL, Korendo very true, chicken and Brocolli definately sounds like a good meal, and the size of them would probably stop world hunger

I have finally got the hair in and textured it, the detail is subtle though, so will probably polish the final thing of in photoshop. I rotated her abit more so that she fits in the scene.

I tried moving her around, more centrally in the scene but unfortunately it felt empty where she was, so returned her to the original position.

I also increased the lighting on her some more.

I also made a progression image for myself, to see how the scene developed from pre-viz to now, and thought would share it

Anyways, I will noe work on the final polish bits, for the Final Entry.

#95

Hello !!, well i think the image is looking better and better, , and with the sss sking on the girl and some ps tricks u will end up with a very cool art work!! cant wait to see it man :applause:

#96

Hey Paperboy,

The girl looks really great, like the faint feel in her pose, cool !
Perhaps you need to make the dress flow like the hair, the follow through of the motion, only a comment

Great work !! Cheers!!

#97

I do agree it is looking better and better!

#98

rattlesnake: Thanks for the kind words! I hope the final image will look good  , the main things I will photoshop is the hair, just add some details to make it more feel like flowing hair, I will also try out adding some saliva dripping from the tongue and see how that looks and feels with the final image.

ferx: Glad you like the pose  , thanks for the many cool comments you have given me!! Yeah maybe you are right and the dress needs to flow abit more behind her, again if I do modify that, it probably will be in Photoshop.

whitemagus: Thank you for your kind comment, I’m hoping the final image will be better still, have to wait and see.

So since my last post I have set up the sss for the woman, tongue and chicken, so hoping it will look fine once the render has finished, I have also amended the final story a little bit to taking into account why the woman is in her Nighty  .

So, and now I have set my computer off to rendering the hi-res image, unfortunately my computer crashed during my overnight render from Wednesday to Thursday (the first time my pc has ever crashed with Windows 7 on it, what were the chances!!!:argh: ) So can see why it’s best to try to finish stuff earlier, to give you more time if things like this happen!!

So anyways I set it rendering again Thursday morning, and it’s still rendering. Last time I looked it’s been 25 hours :stuck_out_tongue: , well I am rendering it all out at once (silly? maybe! I am feeling drained at the moment, and just want to get it rendered), and it’s mainly the area lights and the volume lights going through the feathers, that has caused the long render time. So once it’s finished will do some polish work and a few amendments to the poster and hopefully post the final entry.

So anyways, since this is my final post before the final entry post, I just wanted to thank everyone in the forum who viewed, commented, supported and encouraged me during this competition!! Thanks guys & gals! I also want to wish you all good luck in the competition, and look forward to seeing everyones amazing final entries!!!

Also want to give Special thanks to my wife, who put up with the Chicken for far too long  , and my friends at Codies, for their Support and Encouragement.

Final Entry Coming Soon!

#99

This looks great now! What a frightening chicken - hilarious idea!
You nailed the coloring good to, tasteful but still a bit B-movie, well done. The skyscraper is really cool too - I’m sure you will have no problems in making this into a super final

the thumbnail are to small to be clearly watched.

but whe whole effect is good.

i mostly interested in the story of you piece,
i guess this is ispired by the move kingkong, but i am curious about why you create a character as the gigantic chicken
