Great update, now it looks like a real movie poster! Good job ![]()
B-Movie Entry: Imkan Hayati
Hey Paperboy,
The poster style image works really well with your concept, and cool background story
Perhaps you can add some yellow color to the feet, the left foot is reciving light and that can show up the color of the foot. Maybe some rim light over the upper wing to separete it from the background sky and a traslucent crest to glow a bit on red and show up the crest form. Only silly ideas
Cool work and waiting for more updates. Cheers!! ![]()
this is brilliant, great work. You’ve really got the b-movie feel with your poster :applause:
This is evolving great, paperboy! Curious about the finished chicken!
I’d recommend to go for a more flat shaded title , it’s looking too 3D-programish. But I guess it’s not final anyway.
So just go ahead man! nice work!
Eskarina: Glad you like how the Poster is looking
Ferx: Thanks :), I completely agree with your comments, I haven’t finished texturing the chicken yet, so hopefully all what you have mentioned will get into the image
Antropus: Thanks man!! I hope I can get the chicken finished to a polished state. Actually I hope I can get a female character done in time!!!
Emptyshell: Thanks dude!
Yakonusuke: Thanks, I’m curious about the finished chicken too :D. The Title is based on a King Kong poster I’ve seen, yeah theirs is 2D with depth, so may be you’re right, so will give it a go later and see.
JUDZIGN: Thanks
Well since last posting I have detailed the tongue, textured it: Dif, Spec, Bump, did a little more lighting work to get a slight glint in the eye, and have modelled and textured a feather which I am tediously placing
So will try to finish feather placement, then texture and detail the chicken a bit more.
Pegahoul: Thanks!
Since I know I will be pushed to get a female character done from scratch, especially with lots to do on the chicken still, so I decided to get a female character model I did for my ZBrush Central Action Hero Competition entry and modify it to suit the scene.
When I created the mesh, I used ZSpheres, and retopologised once I was happy (I added some images of the initial creation). I have already removed all the elements from the chocolate girl and have cleaned up the mesh more.
I need to give her feet, and I will probably retopolise her again, since the hands are seperate elements at the moment, then pose her and get sculpting.
Still Chicken to do though!!!
Thanks goofara!
Well I have been posing the female model. Originally I had her in a fainting pose, however I felt it might be better to have her fainted. So I think the pose is nearly there, so hopefully can start modelling and detailing.
I have also decided to have her in a nighty so she has been plucked out of a nearby Hotel Window as she was preparing for bed
Thanks rasamaya
Well I have been texturing the chicken. UVMaster is such a god send from Pixologic (Thanks guys!!!) So I tried it out and it worked amazingly, so created the diffuse texture in ZBrush.
I have now generated bump, spec and a subsurface colour, so will be testing it out in my scene, then work on the feathers again.
Well I have now transfered the textures to modo, I had to intensify the skin diffuse to notice the different tones. I think the Bump and the spec are working nicely, I have to get the tranluscent llok to the thing on top of the head.
I am at the moment getting the feathers in the scene to see how they look and work.
Since my last post, I have been working on the feathers.
I brought in the modelled brown feathers I was working on, and they looked really poor, it was very unnatural and didn’t work at all :(, so in a way it was wasted time.
So next idea was to try out making feathers using Modo’s Fur, so creating a Fur Density and Fur Length Maps I started playing around with the fur trying to make them more feathery.
Which finally I think I am close to. I think they are abit wide for feathers at the moment, but I like the feel of them, more of a crazy chicken look, that has shed feathers, and I liked the white colour to them too, since the brown was too dark.
I also think that the white colourto the feathers give it a more bleached look from the radiation and toxic chemicals.
So other from the a few tweaks to the feathers, I am going to stop with the chicken now, and concentrate on the female character.
davidramonilustracion: Thanks, glad you like the concept :).
So I have given my Damsel in distress some feet and did a bit of cleaning up at the joins, still work to do on detailing her, especially facial features.
I also have been working on her night gown, just the straps left, then I can sculpt some folding and seam details. I want one of the straps to be falling down her arm a bit.
So will continue with the gown and the woman.
Hey Papeboy,
Cool updates, like a lot the lighting and shading on Chic Kong
, looks awesome. Perhaps on the top of building and the last part of chick cong body and wings you can add some fog to faint in the distance and gain more depth in the image (You can do that in photoshop when you finish the image, dont worry :D)
The damsel looks great, cool pose. Great work and looking forward for more updates. Cheers!!
Thanks Ferx, well about fogging ,well the building already has subtle fogging which I do not want to over do really, and as for the wings, since I am using a Vignette for the poster edge, I don’t think it’s necessary, but lets see
Poster: I repositioned some of the text, I changed the font for HELL and BIRD so it stands out more, added some highlighting to the eye, and I added a central crease on the poster.
I tried changing the title text to flat text in photoshop, but nothing really worked
so I am staying with the 3D Title since it gels well with the scene, something which I always wanted.
Lighting: I moved the light on the face of the Chicken a little so that the intense light, causes half the chicken beak also to be in full light.
I added an extra point light at the belly of the creature.
Finally on lighting I widened the beam from the nearer chopper.
Chicken: I modified the feathers, I made the feet more yellow so they stand out, and I added some subtle Pimpling of the skin although that is not in the poster render yet, but added it on the side.
My main aim now is just the woman, hoping to get her night gown finished this evening and get the female base model in to see the Pose and positioning.
Worked on the Night Gown, and it is ready to take into modo to texture. It will have a silky Satin feel to it as the ZBrush image in away.
So hopefully get that done this evening, I will also increase the bump intensity on the Pimples and tongue of the chicken as I think they are a bot too subtle at the moment, and get the low res mesh of the woman also into modo to see how it works.
