Thank you for the nice comments and encouragement.

I haven’t finished doing the base model of the chicken, will work on that over the weekend. But I have started work on the Police Choppers, and the Main Skyscraper, which is being based on the Empire State Building.

However since I like the proportion of the Skyscraper in my composition, I will not detail the building to be exactly the Empire State, but Suggest that it is.

Also I have decided to drop the concept idea I had for the chicken, and go for a more realistic chicken, but will still have the long tongue and maybe glowing eyes and some other more subtle details to make it that little bit more monstrous.

Anyway these ae just thoughts going through my head as I’m working through.

Here is the Chicken Base Mesh model finished, I still need to UV map it, but at least the model is done. I will be creating a few feather variations so that later on I can place them randomly on the body.

So what I will do next is take her into ZBrush and detail up the Head, Beak and Legs. Since the rest of the body will be covered in fur, I probably won’t do much detailing of the body. I will also pose the chicken in ZBrush, so that I can tidy the mesh quicker and easier.

Also this weekend, I have been playing with the scene lighting in Modo, and abit more work on detailing the helicopter, which I will post later once I get it to a better standard.

Looks great and I totally digg that composition!
Can’t wait to see it finished!

Haha, that’s a cool and funny concept. The chicken looks great so far. :bounce:

Can’t wait to see more.

Paperboy,

 Love the idea of the mutant chicken viewing humanity as worms. Very clever and charming. Also, since you mentioned fried chicken wings, perhaps you can make a spin on Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain (renamed, rebranded) somewhere in the background of your image. Just a small greasy diner that the mutant left an egg or . . . other substance on.

No. On second thought, that’s just gross. Your image deserves better.

Awesome concept and progress.

#28

Looks great, i wonder how are you going to resolve feathers issue?

#29

Hey Paperboy,

Totaly cool concept, like the idea  The composition works really well, that giant chiken is an authentic menace :D. Perhaps you can exagerate some chiken charecteristics ( like the tongue) for a more mutant look ( I dont know, dinosaur legs… ) Only a comment

Great work and waiting for more updates. Cheers!!

SaphireS: It’s great that you like my composition.

Russel-Nash: Thanks, I really hope I can make the piece like I envisage it.

ravioli_rancher: Thanks dude, funny you should mention about a KFC style boarding or something, it was an idea a friend put forward to me too.

anto-toni: Glad you like it. Yeah feathers, I was thinking of having a number of modelled feathers, which I will place on the chicken once it is posed, so that I can use them efficiently.

Ferx: Thanks for the comment and am really glad you like the idea. Once I get the chicken into ZBrush I will play around and see what works with mutations. Thanks for the ideas.

Well I have finished uv mapping the Chicken now, and also finished modeling
the taller of the back Skyscrapers and imported it into Modo, into the main scene from Max.

With the scene, I found a really nice image of a sky and the lighting of a building, which I am going to use as reference for my peice.

I also started work on the lighting, early days yet, but it’s a start, I think the Ambient is a bit dark at the moment, and of course will swith some lights off and vary intensities of lights from the windows.

Hey Paperboy,

Nice update, like the night mood for the scene, puts a great dramatic touch on it, cool!
Looking forward for more updates! Cheers!! ::smiley:

Ferx: Thanks for the encouragement and kind comments!

Well have finished modelling the Second Smaller Background skyscraper, and imported it into the modo scene.

I have played around with the lighting some more. I changed the colour of the sky a little, making it lighter and added some distance fogging too just to add to the sense of scale.

I also made some conceptual and scene changes, the main change is the removal of the ground plane, and the continuation of the buildings down and out of the scene, the main reason is to increase the sense of depth and drama, but also so gives a greater opportunity of uplighting the woman and chicken too, from police spotlights down from the ground.

This means the chicken is now carrying the woman slowly up the building rather than snatching her. So I will rotate the woman so she is more in a laid down position on his tongue.

The other change is I moved the helicopters around a little and the spotlights have been directed slightly differently.

Next will be to get the helicopters finished and in the scene, and get the chicken posed and in the scene in basic form.

#33

I am now working mainly on posing, detailing and cleaning up the chicken.

This is how it looks so far.

#34

Love the chicken!!!

#35

Maybe all that chicken wing frying is what made that chicken irate in the first place! Nice work on the modeling so far. Your POV looks really dynamic and should work out nicely.

#36

coming along well, love the chicken, he’s looking awesome

#37

Thanks guys for the kind words for my Chicken!! Glad you like it so far!!

Well the Empire State Building-esque Building is done and finally in the scene, still some details to add to the building, like lit windows etc.

I also did some more work on the lighting too.

#38

Ace composition, really dynamic, I like the girl pose too. This should look really good!

#39
