B-Movie Entry: Blaz Porenta

#121

This is starting to look really good now, i love the idea of them coming out of the tent in a zombie horde. The colour work and composition is spot on. I cant wait to see the final detail work.

#122

it’s a superb circus, awesome colors/composition/characters,…

#123

Looks great! Really nice work! Can’t wait for more.

Blaz - this is looking really fantastic! So sorry I haven’t dropped in to comment yet (I’ve watched but not posted,) especially as you’ve been great about adding feedback to my thread. But anyhow:

I normally find the whole “scary clown” concept really cheesy, but in your entry I love it! It’s because you didn’t just make him a scary man in make up but really made the face decrepit. And that row of double teeth is awesome! I normally find curtains cheesy too, but agin, they totally work here. I love the addition of the woman in the elephant’s trunk, as a screaming woman is such a B-movie poster staple (more scream on her, though!)

I’m not sure the depth is working on the 2-headed geeks’ hand: The hand looks like it’s closer to us than the fortune teller’s head is, but it’s/their body is so far behind her. It means it look like it must have an extremely long arm. Maybe it doesn’t matter that much - it’s a dramatic exaggeration - but just thought I’d point it out.

I love the glows on the skulls, but it takes a bit of looking to connect them to the clown and to realize he’s juggling them. Maybe a bit more trail off of each one, so that the glows start forming a faint circle, would help to connect them back to the clown and what he’s using them for.

Mostly the perspective makes it look like we’re looking up at the scene, but the silhouetted ring-master’s hat looks like we’re seeing it straight on. I know he’s only small and in the background, but a bit more curve to that hat-top would help.

Anyhow, great work, as usual. I’m not worried about your finishing: Your half finished stuff looks better than most peoples’ completed work. Now I just need to play catch-up! Anyhow, great job so far, and thanks for the posts on my thread!

Awesome update!

I agree with Walrus: the hand in the middle looks way too big.
I love the magician/ringmaster guy in the upper-left corner.

I know it is a ghoul circus but I am kinda missing some realistic human eyes in something or anything. Maybe in the skulls being juggled? Maybe they are in between the skulls being juggled (ewww!). Maybe in the elephant? Or the clown?

Great job on that frilly collar of the clown. It really has a nice thickness to it.
Looking forward to your progress!

Thank you folx for all new comments! I’m still very busy and don’t have the time to work on the actual piece, but can take a couple of minutes to reply to u and thank u for all the support!

Antropus: yes, it definitely was flat and maybe still is a bit… but I hope I’ll solve that problem during the detailing process, when I’ll put more focus also on the sculpting of the characters. Thnx!

LightSovereign: yea, I think that there was really to much going on on the image, so rearranging some characters definitely helped. Thank you for stopping by!

stevethomas: thank you! You should also hear the music from the album

RageOfAges: thank you so much! I am not sure though, what do u mean by energy around globes? Do u mean that purple fire around the jugglers skulls? I need to work on that yea… at the moment its a “sketch” phase for those elements, showing the movement. Maybe I’ll completely change that, or maybe I’ll just make it look better  thank you for pointing it out!

walrus: hey Michael! its really not a problem being late in my thread. If anyone knows how it is being busy and occupied with tons of other stuff, its me at the moment  Thank you so much for dropping by and taking the time to comment! Glad u like two rows of teeth on a clown, while they were created completely spontanious (as many things do in my images, hehe). And the curtains was a must I guess, to show where is this whole parade taking place.
The girl in the trunk should scream more, I agree  And thank you for pointing out the too large hand in the middle of the image. I totally haven’t noticed that, while I was too busy with the composition and giving some depth to the image. Will need to take that in consideration and come up with something to make it more believable. As well as that glowy thing around the skulls and the ringmasters hat. Thnx for pointing out those little things that I would never noticed them, but would make the whole piece a lot better!
Hehe… I hope I’ll finish it the way I imagine it  Although it may look ok now, I would never put it in my portfolio… and if I miss the deadline, I doubt I’ll ever come back to finish it (as some previous entries that still waits for my extra time). Thank you once again and hope to see both of our pieces finished waaaaay before final deadline

harmless: thank you for pointing the the large hand out! As I said in walrus’ reply, I would never noticed that on my own  Human eyes would also be a nice touch, I’d definitely think of them in the detailing process. I already tried something on the clown but didn’t work that well… but there r plenty more characters  Thank you for stopping by!

gregmcquay, helios0684, LastEmperor7, MDR, ludorami, RTjunior, tccin3d: I am really glad that u guys like the process and the image  Will do my best to keep it that way! Thank you!

Damn! Best 2d composition I’ve seen on this project. Very cool characters you’ve created. Should be a good end result. Good luck.

the composition and characters are just awesome and I agree with Michael about the curtains - they really add to the image. Great stuff all 'round and I sure hope that despite all the other stuff you’re busy with you’ll manage to finish it in time - it’s brilliant

#131

#137

whoever thought up the idea of clowns in the first place was messed up…weird as.

its looking really good so far.

was just wondering what you had planned for the environment? or is it more of a layerd charecter poster deal?

shall keep an eye out of course

Very cool concept, seems very energetic and the colours and atmosphere is brilliant, this caught my eye from the beginning when you first layed the basic colours and knew it would be good to follow
