Automatic skeleton generation

#1

Hi,

Any recommendations?

#2

Use the Kinect from Microsoft. Its open source. And generates bones with MotionBuilder on the fly with video of your standing position.

#3

Given some general mesh…

#4

Whatever general mesh you create I suppose. Kinect can capture .obj mesh of you too on its output though it will need a remeshing. (use the new zRemesher with Zbrush 6, or qRemesher for previous versions)
Retargeting bones for something other than human… I believe can still be done in motionbuilder. (correct me if I’m wrong)

#5

Sorry, but I don’t follow. I have models such as cat, camel, chair, car, star, and octopus. I need to generate a skeleton for them (there’s no animation). How can a kinect capture of myself, or a motion-builder bone retargeting can help me here?

#6

Close to humanoid obviously.
