Automated saving of rendered images

#1

I’m an absolute noob, and I’m desperately seeking basic assistance.
It is painful that I see scripts online that seems to address my problem, but I don’t even know how to use these scripts.

I’m trying to automate the rendering of different display layers.
Thereafter, I need to save it to hard drive.

So far, I’ve coughed up 2 lines in the Script Editor to edit the visibility of each layer…

setAttr layer1.visibility 1;
RenderIntoNewWindow;

But I don’t know how to save it.

Came across commands like renderWindowSaveImageCallback, but can’t wrap my head around the parameters.

Please help?

just use the render setup / or render layer (legacy) instead of display layer.

Can I trouble you for a step-by-step… or perhaps a website for reference?

just type on youtube
maya render layer (thats the old legacy system, you have to enable it if you want to use it on newer maya version)
or
maya render setup ( the new system )

you have tons of tutorials on youtube on the subject.
