Autodesk SplashScreen Techniques

#1

Hi
I wondered if anyone would be able to suggest any ways that I might be able to recreate some of the Autodesk SplashScreens (in Maya preferably), like the following…

At a recent conference I talked with the Autodesk guys and they told me it was created using motion capture data, which is exactly what I want to use. I have converted the .fbx data into some curves in Maya and I now want to loft between them to create this effect, but not sure how exactly I might do this.
Thanks so much in advance for any help.
K.

How did you convert the fbx into curves?

Just loft them with simple objects as you normally would then use a glass shader.

I’m interested in this too. I’ll give it a shot and upload my files here.

Where did you get the mocap data? Did you make it yourself?

Hi
I am using mocap data downloaded from the web right now - I have my own but its simple stuff like waving hands.
I found a script online that lets me convert the fbx data to curves in Maya.
Also, I need to extrude BETWEEN the curves, not ALONG the curves. I actually have had some success after realizing that I can select a few curves and extrude between them. Now I am trying to work out how to animate the resulting extrusions (which were created BETWEEN curves) to be displayed ALONG the curve!
I’m kind of new to Maya to be honest, and to forum posting, so struggling to upload images easily! Would love to see others ideas and results.
Thanks!
K.
