you ever hear that saying “too big not to fall?”
i am just glad the Open Design Alliance exists.

true…but Lighwave has R&D going and the app is making efforts, if even only half heartedly to improving.
Luxology has been slowly and steadily progressing. As it is, it’s the modeler of choice for a lot of people, and those numbers are growing. And Lux has been working on animation tools for quite awhile now.
C4D, well, it’s still there, but needs a bit of organization I think.
It was pointed out that at Siggraph a couple years ago, Autodesk had a slideshow showing XSI as enemy #1, and Luxology was listed as enemy number 2.
true, the big bucks are with Autodesk, no denying that. However the smaller apps are making progress, and that should provide a new revolution in the landscape.
Things change, it’s the way of the world.
First of all, competition is not eliminated. Look, if AD kills the competitor packages, what the majority of competitor users will do? Look for alternative solution. So AD will not gain more userbase, but will loose them. If AD keeps the competitors (as separate package), the majority of the users will still use that package, so the loss is less.
okay…Off Topic somewhat but i think it should add a bit of fun to reading the thread!
i’ll delet if you think it’s too naughty!

Haha… love it… So that’s what the viewcube is really about. It’s all starting to make sense.
Poor SoftImage employees… their biological and technological distinctiveness has been added to the AutoBorg.
[offtopic=Don’t read if you dont want to…]
So… my question to you: Do you consider your comments as adult? It sounds like a kid not being happy with a toy… A real professional wouldnt post anything like that.
I hope you learn to behave… I am using XSI and A:M both for work… both can do many cool things. I may not be the best artist here (or anything near that), but I am making my money with it, so it cant be that bad…
A:M and XSI are not aimed at the exact same market so. Both are great for doing what they are supposed to do.
The funny thing about you Hash-haters is: You are blaming Mr. Hash. And in the way you do it, you are doing exactly what you are indicting him or even woth things…

So… back to topic:
What do you think? Will Autodesk keep all three 3d-softwarepackages? Doesnt that mean high costs without any bigger advantages for them? Wouldnt they need to stay with Alias / Softimage as subcompanies to gain something from it? But they are selling XSI, Maya and Max all by “Autodesk XYZ”.
Lets say they would dropp one of the softwarepackages… (smaller developementcosts, etc…) which software should the user of that package use? There is no other softwarepackage available with an equal spreading in the industrie… so they would have to use one of the two other once available by Autodesk. So Autodesk doesnt loose anything.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about that… please be objective so… it doesnt help to here from people who are afraid of dropping of their prefered softwarepackage if they are not objective but hoping…
Fuchur
Hahaha that message hits the nail on the head!
Even though it’s kind of sad that some idiots are even advocating putting the viewcube in XSI. I’ve marked your post as useful. :applause:
Obviously, you don’t realize that the ViewCube is the one and only feature that’s been missing
in XSI.
Thankfully Autodesk’s here to fix this issue for those who upgrade to XSI 2009 on a Platinum-uber-1337-VIP-only-membership 12 years contract (paid in advance).
This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. The View Cube is pure genius!
Kev
Golleee... A feature that is already built in XSI's viewport's menu bar. Woopdeedoo.
That does the same damn thing.
That would be situated a few inches from XSI's built in viewport menu.
And another views menu at the left top of the viewports that practically does the same thing.
And yet there’s a compelling urgency to put another space eating UI interface INSIDE the viewports, that does, what? Same damn thing? Wow! How innovative!
Hmmm wonder what does these buttons with the letter X, Y, Z at the top does? Woweee, it changes the view! Gowsh! Who knew?
Seriously are you joking? If so I apologize in advance for being abnoxious. :curious:
ViewCube is truth.
Best part is, it won’t have an option to turn it off. It will even render in your render region. Deal with it. :bounce:
The answer to whether he was joking or not can be found by searching the Autodesk website for the Platinum-uber-1337-VIP-only-membership 12 years contract.
ViewCube is truth.
That’s right- you’ve heard of the companion cube. Now experience the companion viewcube.
Oh I get it now. Sorrry loocas.
It’s just that I’ve gotten back from other forum arguing about this same idiotic idea to some other ignorant punk.
Then again I’ve come across much more idiotic excuses for people using XSI. whine It has too much menus whine Wah I can’t make the UI/workspace/workflow the same as my favorite POS software Wah
Now where is that $49.00 toilet paper? Oh there it is. wipe wipe
I half expect there to be a tag-team battle between the viewcube, the steering wheel, the Windows search dog and that f***ing paper clip.
That said, I did actually see someone who liked the viewcube the other day.
hehe - looks like there is a little internet hype arround the “ViewCube” evolving
would be a good thing if ADESK would realize their bad public image a bit and stop talking
big money and corporate business only…
But i guess they are too high on “Imperum Autodeskum” to rethink their NOOP-user targeting strategy…
