I’m actually working in QLD right now, but I spent the last two years down in Sydney at Ambience, and I’ll be back freelancing in Sydney again at a few places in Janurary.
Everyone should start attending the DLF meetings down there
Seems it’s always just a bunch of ambience and animal logic guys drinking there!
Allan
Im about 5-10 min drive from the city (Mascot area)
Yeah…how about that, CG Talk is home grown:beer:
Hey Im in perth just got out of highschool and am looking for courses in 3d ive tried the local tafe and stuff but you have to do like 3 other courses in like graphic design to get to 3d does anyone know how i can get some training or anything to help me on my way? if not ill have to pursue graphic design which is much less exciting for me…
amckay
J0hnnyKn0xville: don’t know if tafe is the right way to go (never heard good things about them) but I do think you will benefit from doing as many graphic design and art courses as possible.
Well, I’m and Adelaidien wanna be animator. Wish I could go to the aeaf but cant afford the tickets and planefare. theres a whole day on ILM, should be very interesting.
Hi DrAdamDinosaur, thanks for the feedback, I’ve now made the final cut which I think is a lot better. There might be one or two cuts which are off but most of it works togeather really well. I’ve also chosen a way better track and reditted heaps of it

blame telstra
nah blame that pathetic excuse for a lifeform Richard Alston. That man doesn’t know a computer from his anus. Hes the reason that cable internet isn’t a standard.
(dark_lotus doesn’t like him very much)
I’m finishing up me VCE atm, but I’m leaving dear australia for Americaland in January.
does anyone know what happened to the aussie game developer conference?

Believe me, I have so much to bitch about re: Telstra. I can’t get DSL or Cable from my house - and the max dialup connection speed is 28k! Now they want me to buy a Satellite… :annoyed:
The pain that I have to go through when accessing CGTalk’s gallery!

I know your pain…I am in exactly the same boat, but at least I have 56k…man, how do you do it?
The Government has just had an investigation into services in the country areas and it has come back as thumbs up?? That’s great, but what about the city areas??
Very frustrating…

Right here dark lotus: www.agdc.com.au

Yeah, all of Australia, both rural and city areas are really lagging behind. In a few years there are gonna be serious problems when everyone realises that the lines running to all the new appartments, etc (in melbourne) can’t even upport ISDN, let alone get cable or ADSL. Compare this to Japan and South Korea, where the entire country seems to be on high quality broadband (I think…dont hold me to this :D)
Are you talking about that pair gain issue Leonard?? That sucks…
I just read today at www.whirlpool.com.au that the South Korean government has just announced it will spend $20 billion over the next five years to make sure that EVERY house has access to broadband Internet… Makes me jealous!
hey guys just read the thread… havnt had much time because ive been studying for exams…
but im just finishing vce… down here in melbourne…probally end up at swineburne or deakin next year studing multimedia… or media arts
Just wondering if any of you melbournites know anything about brackies docklands studio thing… im curious coz i heard about it ages ago but not alot since… still in developement but brackie spend millions or billions for a new television film studios art and science stuff down at the docklands… probally wont be finished until about 3 years time (when im leaving uni) just wondering if anyones got any ideas??
and what are the bigger 3d/cg studios in melbourne?

Pair gain, and my house is more than 4km from the nearest exchange.
It’s just rooted that satellite connections are so much more expensive than the other broadband services.
Leonard
amckay , myself and the other guys at work found the, ahem , “money shot” to be rather amusing.
hehe didn’t even notice this tread till now
I’m in Brissy, doing a B. of Animation at QCA.
Use mainly Maya and XSI.

Myself is in canberra, studiyng at the academy of interactive entertainment for the past year, enjoying the course that is offered there, but am curious to know if anyone has an opinion on the quality of students coming from that place
good to hear that this site is from oz
Trambott: Last AGDC the academy showcased some of it’s students’ work, and it was quite impressive. A few bugs, but it was work in progress!
