Assassin, Davewilson (3D)

#1

Phew, very tired now, been working late on this one, not
getting much time. Anyway… nuff complaining.
I haven’t really been able to tweak it, which is usually the
difference between an ok model and a GREAT model for
me. I still need to add all the cool details, powerpacks, gadgets,
weapons (of course, grin) and obviously texture. But
Here’s where I am now… with all that mech stuff all over
the place I think all he can probably do animation wise is
scratch his knee, but I’ll work on it.

Enjoy… (well hopefully)

Cheers All, Dave GREAT weekends… Dave.

oh yeah, if anyone wants more pics or wires, let me know.
Don’t have too much time but I will see what I can do.

#2

wow… great model…

wireframes… wireframes… wireframes…

#3

Very very sweet. I’d love to see a textured version of it in the near future. Not just plain metal but rather with scratches and dust and paint etc…
Very nice model

#4

DO NOT ADD textures, IT’S far better looking this way.Very interesting and HAVE NO idea how u made such complexity.

DO u use Rhino to make. the mechanic pieces.

THE hands look kinda WEIRD.

VERY GOOD.

#5

 Aye, amazing work. and more details coming? mama mia…

though, one thing i can crit on (halfheartedly) is the hands.
they seem a tad too small imo.

#6

Yeah, I totally agree, I have rushed quite a few things that
DEFINATELY need to be reworked, and the hands are top
of the list. Also it’s all done in Lighwave.

Cheers, thanks for the feedback. Dave.

#7

I can’t say much more than amazing work… I can see why your loosing sleep over it… very impressive

#8

Jeez you work fast man. And still amazing detail. How many hours did you spend modelling this fellah? Its so great to see mechanic designs that aren’t direct rips of some mid '80s anime. Is anyone else tired of that crap? Very nice stuff, can’t wait to see more.

#9

hmmpf…amazing.just want to say impressive work!

#10

… fantastic …

#11

w…w…w…wow!!! that is really great stuff dave!!! Wohoo!! lead the way for your fellow South Africans!!! ummm dave are u based in cape town and if so what is it exactly that you do?

Thanks in advance
Grant

#12

Wery nice model and desing. I would like to see his hand thou when it’s open…

#13

Gorgeous. You seem to have a firm grasp on both mechanics and anatomy. You don’t see very many cases where they jive that smoothly. Keep up the good work, I want to see more.

#14

Great work mate. I can see you’ve put a lot of work into your character.

I’m with the other guys. The hand looks funny on this character.

Maybe you could make the fingers a little bit wider(they seem thin. Also, could you scale the hand up to about two thirds the size of the head.

Keep up the good work.

#15

Nice stuff…I’m so jealous of the fact that everyone seems to be able to model really well while I’m having trouble…on that note, I’d really like to see some wireframes.

Then maybe…just maybe, I might learn something…

How hard is it to build this kind of thing in Lightwave?

And which package would you use for this kind of modelling if you had the pick of the bunch?

#16

I love it! I would like to see some more renders, though
Also, are you going to animate it?

/moo

#17

Thanks for all the crits dude !! I think the hands definately need
some attention. So they will be getting it, I also need to do
work on the joints and some other areas too…

To answer some questions I spent about 2-3 Hours a night
for around 9 or 10 Days so, hmmmm bout 27-30 Hours I guess,
was a crazy rush. I guess that would make it about 3-4 full
days of work. But you can see it’s a little rushed specially things
like the hand which I did in like the last hour grin

[Grant] Yeah I am based in Cape Town. I Head up 3D for
Wicked Pixels. Working mainly on commercial and at the moment
working on our Shortfilm.

[Spike] He was built in Lightwave, and to be honest I am not
really familiar with other 3D modelling packages. Some guys at the
studio do use Max and it’s seem like a very good modelling package too. In lightwave it was pretty cool to model 7’s modeller
is awesome, and a GREAT modelling package.

[Moo] Definately going to animate. I will now work out joints and
stuff, and adjust my model a little. I will also pump out more
renders when I rig him properly.

Cheers All, thanks for the feedback.
-Dave.

You rules Dave! :D:D

#19

Just curious - how many verts (polys) does your assassin have.
Awesome work I must say

Awesome Man!
I want calves like this guys ;). Once again your mechanics rule! Have you considered dividing the lower chest plate into a front and a back plate? Would open it up for some nice details under the arm (only noticed it in the fist-forward-side-on pose.) Could we get a full-leg shot? Want to see how they work in more detail.

Once again - great work (see - you DO rule - despite what some people may say).
