Artist needed for skeletal animation demo

#1

I’ve been working on a free project called Animadead, which provides game developers with an easy-to-use interface for implementing skeletal animations in a game.

It’s written as a library and has many features such as loading models and animations and playing them back with a wide range of control. To demonstrate what the library is capable of, I have an example program, which interactively allows you to control a character. However, what I posses in programming skill, I lack in modeling, texturing, and animating skill.

Ultimately, what I need is a fully textured model (use of multi-textures is fine but not required, like bump, specular, detail, etc.) with a skeleton and skin. Then I’ll need a set of animations that can show off the library. A good example of some animations for a biped would be a walk cycle in 8 directions (forward, backward, strafe left/right, and the logical combinations: [NW, N, NE], [W, E], [SW, S, SE]) and then some animation that only requires the upper body, but if the feet aren’t doing anything could assist in the animation. For example, swinging a sword, scratching himself, or shooting a bow. With this example the walk cycles could be blended together with a joystick or even if just w,a,s,d are used for movement, the transitions could be blended over time. The upper body animation can be used by itself or show how an animation can be applied to any part of the skeleton such as the upper body, while still playing another animation on another part of the body.

With that being said, the thing that I need the most is a good texture. I was able to make an ogre model, but I found out really quickly I’m a lousy artist :arteest::

You might have noticed his arms are quite large. I was planning on making him a tree bearing ogre. This particular model is about 1700 triangles but I would accept a much higher polycount.

I made a simple demo of the ogre standing still which has the uv map and some simple camera controls you can play around with. You can get the demo here.

The project has been really taking off and I think it would be a really great way to get some exposure. My main motivation for creating the library was to show employers what I’m capable of and I think it would be an excellent way to showcase something as an artist.

Hey, Thought we could collaborate on this project if you could assist me in learning the skills necesary to get into game development. I’m a decent modeler and could give you the animations if you still need them just Contact me as soon as you can my address debeukes@yahoo.com

hmmm well is there any reason why you keep posting new threads?

there this one http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=210125&highlight=ogre

and this one http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=135680

maybe a mod should delete the thread or somthing? or in future reply to an existing thread rather than making a new one?

yeah, one post is nearly a year old, and the other was new. I didn’t think that old post was still around actually. I posted this one because I was hoping it might get a better response on a different forum/subject.

I suppose I could have made this post a reference to the other post instead of repeating my inquiry, but I didn’t want to defer anyone from trying because they saw someone else try already. But now that you’ve made a point of it, I think this post is pretty much discredited as a legitamate plea for help.
