Artifacts on Geometry when rendering Shadows??


I’ve got some artifacts on some geometry when i try to render either ray-traced or depth-map shadows. No artifacts are present when its rendered without the shadows…but as soon as i use shadows i get these artifacts.

I’ve checked the direction of the normals…they all point out. I’ve also set the normals to face.

The problem still persists. Any ideas??

This is using Maya 2008 Extension 2. forgot to include that.


Are your render settings set to production, or are you ant aliasing?


render using mental ray.ray trace shadows…it’ll go off…it happens often in maya only with polygon geometry…and has no solution except the above…
