We are managing all of Sony Computer Entertainment’s games recruitment and the London office is a world class development studio. It has unrivalled development facilities and offers a creative and stimulating environment coupled with access to the best London has to offer from their Soho office.
They currently seek an experienced individual to oversee all aspects of art development in a small team, working on a prestigious & well-established music videogame franchise for the PlayStation®2, and now in development for the PlayStation®3. This role is working in close partnership with the Art Director to ensure that the games strong visual identity is maintained, and developed according to their direction.
As well as maintaining the art style and overall visual quality of the game, the successful candidate will manage the existing video processing team, liaise with the both the internal graphic design & marketing departments, and work closely with the internal team leads to develop & maintain graphic & video workflows. They will also be responsible for briefing internal & external illustrators for cover artwork, ensuring exacting standards are met, and artwork is delivered on time.
This role also covers all aspects of art team management including hiring new staff, purchase of equipment & software, as well as working closely with an external development team and offering advice on art related matters where required.
Candidates should have a proven track record in managing artists & liaising with other disciplines as a Lead Artist or Art Manager of a game development team, or in a New Media Environment. Those with a video games background would ideally have experience of developing & implementing game menus, and all candidates should have a good knowledge of video editing & motion graphics.
They would also have a good understanding of broadcast standards and technology, and have experience of using both Mac & PC platforms. Although this is not a directly hands on role, we are seeking candidates who have experience of using Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Flash, etc who can work with the existing video processing team, & game artists to establish ‘best practise’ and help develop sound and efficient production pipelines. Ideally they would also have experience commissioning artwork, and dealing with illustrators and motion graphics studios. The right candidate should have a solid & proven art and/or video background and should have a strong design sensibility and understanding of visual issues.
