Arnold MtoA 1.0 Mesh Light issues

#1

Hi,

Wondering if anyone else has had this same problem or solution? I’m using Maya 2014 and MtoA 1.0 to render a scene. I have modeled light boxes and tried to make the lens mesh lights. The mesh lights lite up the scene, but the mesh renders black. I have the light visible turned on and tried adding a aiStandard with the color of the light. I also tried flipping the normals, but that just changes the direction of the light. I have double sided check as well as off, makes no difference. Funny thing is, when I turn on reflection for the walls, the mesh light is visible in the reflection, but the mesh is still black. Wondering what I’m missing?

My work around for now is to duplicate the lens geometry to make the mesh light and uncheck ‘make light visible’, then use the original geometry with emission to simulate the ‘make light visible’ option.

Thanks,

Jason

Me too had the same problem and couldn’t find out an issue, I just solve it in compo

I think I have a solution, still trying to find the right combination for my scene. It will vary depending on the scale and purpose for your scenes. The Normalize check box on allows you to change the scale of your mesh light without effecting the intensity of the light. So you would have to increase(especially for quadratic) either the exposure or intensity of the light to see it in scene. Try normalize off with low exposure and intensity combinations, or normalize on with high exposure and intensity combinations.

Exactly the same problem, and normalize OFF works fine. Thanks very much
