Hi,
I am currently playing with Arnold for Maya, looking at it as an alternative for Mental Ray at the game design company I am working with.
However, I ran into an issue that I couldn’t find an answer to in the docs or anywhere else. So writing it here hoping you could help me.
I have set up a simple scene in Maya 2014 involving a sphere and an area light and am trying to bake the lighting and shading so that I’d be able to use it as a texture in a game engine . However, when I bake using the “render selection to texture” , I am getting bad results.
- There are seams
- It looks very different from my rendered result. The reflection shapes are distorted and the quality is inferior.
I’ve attached an image showing the above. Is there any way I can get a perfect bake?
I really hope you can help me with this as I am so in love with Arnold now and would be a heartbreak if I can’t use it just cause of baking.
Thanks for your time
