armatures and flipping direction

#1

Hi!
also…short one this time…

well…
( and just to point this out again…J.C tutorials are my one and only source for learning messiah…and…of course…this issue that I’m explaining here emerged while I was following the steps of J.C)
I’ve rigged the character and put some expressions on the fingers so they curl perfectly…but…problem is…after attaching armatures to right knuckles of hand I switched to ANIMATE TAB and…there it was…armatures looked perfect…everything was goin’ ok…except…when I tried to pitch the fingers with my LMB from the middle knuckle…
( basically this hierarchy of the knuckles is not important…what is important is that the expression on them worked great…and were accuratelly done )
…the mouse movement feeded only one direction of the channel…so…exactly what happened is…I picked the icon for that armature…and moved my mouse horizontaly to one side of my mouse pad ( let’s say left side ) and…the finger started to curl in right channel assigned to him… but It just kept on going…and formed the full 360’ of that channel ( really CONFUSING )…so…no matter what side I choose to move my mouse on my pad…the result is always the same…finger curls in good channel but curls ony in one direction…forms the 360’ of that channel…and reads no backing in direction in which I move my mouse…

help :frowning:

I guess this is a bit confusing…and my english is sucky…so I’ll post jpeg to explain this problem

THANK YOU ALL!

hi again!
…well…this problem is now even more complex…because…I’ve been re-arranging the whole expression list and…after I’ve constructed NEW expression list for the hand…and NEW set of armatures ( also for this arm ) the armatures worked PERFECTLY !..so…i said : ok…that problem is solved…moving on…
and…
after a few hours of animating with some other character…I’ve decided to return to my ARMATURES_EXPRESSION_HAND character…and…the whole thing was awfully WRONG!..I mean…all of the expressions worked perfect…( I’ve tried it…and…the fingers still curl from right knuckle…so…expressions still worked )…but…armatures ( damn them ) were detached from the whole hierarchy…and…when I tried to move_curl the fingers from the knuckles the SAME problem like the one mentioned earlier in the first thread up emerged and now…I’m really confused…
why messiah after I’ve saved all of the armatures…and project…and scene…and…after I’ve assigned the armatures to the full_body_keys group ( group of all controllers on the character ) fails to read in the hierarchy CORRECTLY ???

help anyone…:frowning:

THANK YOU !

Go to the “Edit” tab and in your drop down box choose “KeyFrame Editing”. Then uncheck “Mouse Tracked Rotation Directions” and see if that fixes it.
