arm twist

I was looking at this tutorial on youtube, where at some point he decided to add segments to the forearm bone for the twist. I’m wondering if this feature hasn’t been added to blender 2.54
or there’s a different workflow for it? Or I’m overlooking the options that would add segments to a bone. So far I could only find the option to subdivide the bone, but when I tested that route the ik stopped working. What do you do to get a better twist in 2.54?

came across a rigging tutorial in 2.53 by David Ward, that worked. The option for adding segments is in the deform tab. (dah me)
