architectural visualization

#1

Maybe someone can help me

I was asked to do an architectural visualization. I’ve done simple architectural projects before, and made the buildings myself, based on 2d files. This new project is bigger, and more complex, so remodeling is may not be the smartest way to go.

I received a bunch of 2D .dwg files, though a 3D file would be better. Now I want to ask the client for a 3D file, but what should I ask him? Are there any specific things I have to mention about the file I want from him? Is there a special way file should be exported?

Cheers

Hans

Hi Hans,
What application would they be exporting the 3D model from?

This would narrow down whether I can help you with your question.

Hi Hans!

First, u have to be sure they have modelled it.

From ACAD they can export .3DS (better i guess) or .SAT. You can read native .DWG from another cad soft, VectorWorks for example. so ask for native DWG & 3DS format

cheers
