Apple fixes black status bar for x64 Windows!

#1

It only took 4 years and 11.5 months but against all odds Apple finally found the will to fix Quicktime on x64 variants of Windows.

You can now play Quicktime movies embedded in websites and actually see the progress bar and volume controls! So be sure to run out and grab that historic 7.6.6 update! :bounce:

What’s next? Correct gamma support? We can only hope.

what ? and i just stopped to believe in mirracles … feels like the moment autodesk fixed the bevel in maya  just wait for 10 mere years and your wishes are granted …

#3

Wow finally…

To be honest that bug i think is one of the biggest disgraces in recent software history…

#4

No sir that would be nearly every release of vue “Xtreme” for C4D.:wise:

#5

unbelievable!

I like to think that the lone Windows programmer who fixed the bug got a raise, a bonus, and a confetti party… but I’m guessing reality included none of the above. They probably put him right to work on that annoying gamma situation.

I’m also experiencing a slight audio delay (miniscule, just several frames) which is not present in players like VLC… makes it really difficult to do proper lip sync. I will check back in 2015 :stuck_out_tongue:

#7

QuickTime alternative didn’t have that problem

#8

dont do it!!

i downloaded it and i kept noticing this high frequency pitch when i played movies… so i recorded it and dropped the sample rate to 11k and played it backwards and i heard this deep menacing voice saying “buy an ipad… buy an ipad… buy…”

Good God, that’s pretty awesome news. Quicktime is actually a nice player, being able to scrub and go frame by frame, even on the web is awesome. This bug has been annoying me for years now. Thank you Apple (rare thing for me to say, so GG, honestly).

Interesting. After the recent update I’ve been having a lot of issues playing embedded Quicktime movies. So, sorry guys, it looks like to get the program working under 32bit Vista they’ll need to reintroduce the bug again.

I don’t know if this is a known workaround or not, but I always find if I move the player around a couple times it fixes the gamma problem.

#12

If it crosses over two monitors it’ll stop gamma correcting since it doesn’t know ‘which’ to correct for.

I use this trick by moving movies slightly off my primary screen.

#13

so they finally got around to it…

#14

wow.let me go outside really quick to see if pigs are flying or the sky is falling.

#15

maybe it was a windows problem and the apple finally realized that they would have to make the changes cause windows wouldn’t get off there ass to fix their held together with duct tape os, hehe . . .

How much support do mac users get with windows media player?

#16

What’s next ?
I’d like to upload songs on my wife’s Ipod using XP64, please…

#17

Somebody check if this update removes flash from your computer. It is not like apple to fix anything without a catch…

#18

Most importantly: does it still crash Firefox when Quicktime wants to update?

#19

invisible proggres bar was not bug, it was feature

#20

…but can we use quicktime VRs in 64bit yet?
