Anoying User View

#1

In 3DS max 6 is there any way to stop the view point from snaping to user viewpoint(uselessview) when u move the camera from view points like rightside or frontview. It’s anoying the hell out of me, as my chracter model flys out of view so I have to constantly press P for perspective view and then Z to snap my character back to the middle of my screen. Is there a way to have it at least snap back to perspective view instead, or is this a problem with my object not being aligned to the center of my virtual work space. Or is it that I’m using the wrong keys personally I’m holding the scroll wheel button and alt to rotate my character model.

One last problem I have is alignment or the lack there of. Is it possible to selecte multiple verticies and snap them to the same vertical or horizontal level, or even align them with a specific vertex. Like if i want to straighten serveal vertices along a curve into a stright line how do I go about achiving that

Help would greatly be apreciated, answers to these questions would greatly increase my work flow which is a good thing espically when your in your final year of animation degree  So yeah no pressure (HELP ME PLEASE!)

your post is kind of hard to understand but ill have a go.
i dont know about max 6 but at the bottom right there should be an option to change ur scrolly thingy so that it focuses around your selected object.
