Hey jinwoo! It’s Joey do you remember me :)?
I haven’t seen you on msn lately, PM me your msn if you’re still using it please!
Those are awesome works you’ve got. I remember the apache… you got the most beautiful modelling skill man. great job.

#402

I think what is most impressive is not just the quality but your continued passion to knock out piece after piece. Keep going!

#403

Have you ever tried rhino?

Just wondering if you might like that prog at all,
seeing as you’re obviously a fan of nurbs.

though maya’s nurbs are hard to beat…
I think rhino might actually do it.

except maybe for nurbs patches, which seems to be your main organic too…

#404

okay

the horse is still workin progress but I now think I have little to add.
C&c VERY welcome since I really want to improve it! thanks in advance.
I will soon post some detailed views.

siproductions: thank you so much for the encouragement!

the best: Oh, the hat is really big in the movie but it really looks unnormal  thanks for the commments! and good luck to your work the school and other projects!

bobby_j: thanks for visiting my thread! hope you enjoyed it!

carlos_sr: I hope I could be near one. I;ve seen so many tallented people around me that inspires me!

noggin: I am actually improving hoffman hope it comes out better than now when I graduate!

cipri: thnx! I will absolutely visit your thread !

Numse: thanks Numse! I hope we could disscuss some modeling soon

Mortanius: I guess those took a lot of time among my hardsurface and environment. I did them each every winter vacation.

RedSquirrel: thanks ressquirrel! I hope I can do it faster and better…

donkeylong: thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

Bryan Y: yes, I noticed that you are an expert in horses in other threads, I hope you could give me some advice, please:).

Loghu: many thanks, those are one of my favorites too. I really envy the people who are really into fine art since I didn’t have much chance to do any serious painting.

Panupat: hey, Joey, nice to hear from you  I hope your doing well.

Mr. Positive: I really respect your attitude and character since, I’ve been seeing a lot of your posts. I am really glad you like my work. I wish the best for you, mr. positive!

Tad: actually my wife is getting into rhino becasue of jewelry designing. I think flamingo does some really nice renders. rhino is a great tool and I used it at school years ago to do some modeling too. I use to do some hardsurface modeling because it was related to my studies back home, but lately I think I am pushing myself toward organic stuff since I think I have to improve a lot to imrove my organic modeling skills. thanks for the advice!

jjcoolio,
If you’ve been following the other threads, then there’s a lot of advice in them.

Here are some observations, not necessarily complete.

Eyes: as I noted earlier, take a closer look at the rear portion of the eye. Here’s a reference pic: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3104429

Ears: the ears (it’s hard to tell from this angle) don’t appear to have their characteristic inward curve at the tip. It’s a pretty uniform trait on horses and adds aesthetic appeal.

Flank: the flank area (use this reference for locating: http://www.gaitedhorses.net/Conformation/BodyParts.htm) appears to lack definition and detail.

For a neutral pose I would model the fetlock under the hock (a plumb line drops vertically from the rear of the rump past the back of the hock to the back of the fetlock). That is considered to be conformationally balanced. However, there are no real rules that I know of for 3d neutral poses of horses.

Neck: the neck is a little light and small for the build of the body. Also, decide whether this is a stallion, gelding or mare. Among the three, the stallion will have a much beefier neck. Areas to beef it up (for a stallion) are in the vertical dimension where it connects to the body and in the crest (the topline of the neck) giving it a slight arch. If the horse is a gelding or mare, then an overall slight enlargement would suffice, retaining the existing proportions.

Facial crest: otherwise known as the cheekbone. It is the skull component which runs from beneath the eye towards the tip of the muzzle at the topmost portion of the cheek. It extends about 1/3 the length of the face. It is way to soft and ill defined on your model. Look at lots of facial photos to better understand it.

Body: as far as horses go, your horse is stout. It’s not unrealistic, but just be aware where in the spectrum your horse lies. He’s not quite as heavy as a draft breed though.

Balance: from a balance point of view, as I noted, the neck seems light and small, and it’s hard to tell, but just maybe the head is marginally small. Like 4 percent too small, maybe?

Other than the eye, ears and facial crest, and the possibly slight small size of the head, the head in general looks really good. But it depends on the type of horse he is. It’s not really a Quarter Horse head. It’s not a Thoroughbred head. It’s not a classical Warmblood head. It’s not an Arabian head. It’s not a classical big draft head.

It is kind of a Welsh Cob head, maybe.

#407

is the horse NURBS too?!?!??!?!

#408

Thats some amazing work, well done. Would look pretty good with texturing.
I like all the detail on that gun, and the emotion in that first female character.

Thumbs up…

#409

webejame: many thanks. The female is one of my favorites too.

dima_boujou:yes, its nurbs

Bryan Y: thank you so much for the crits. I am no horse expert so your advice is really valuable to me. I hope I could modify the way you suggest. I mostly used a horse anatomy book and tried to follow. I didn’t really decided which horse it is but tried to make a balanced horse for my final review. It would be a type of horse that it has a decent balance and a bit strong but not like those who have strong and thick legs… I would be satisfied if the horse looks good in genereal. I hope you could give me some advice on that:)
I’ll look up the photos and give it a try! Thanks again for the info and advice, Brayn Y!

alancamara:Glad you like it. I just hope that it’ll come out like I planned to.

#410

can we see a wire on that horse head?
especially the nose i’d like to see how you set that up

#411

Dustin :scream:

#412

omg, once again fantastic models, wow, cant wait for textures:argh::wip:

#413

Very good model, very delicate.

#414

Unfreakin Believable!!!

Amazing work… Are you planning on texturing? If so when do we get a taste.

#415

and how many hours do you model a day?! lol. What pushes you to make such detailed models?

#416

I swear dude, every model you’ve done is quite really one of the best that i’ve seen of its kind. You truly have the artists’ eye, i can’t stress this enough. Sorry to be too much of a fanboy, but the truth is im not, you’re work is just too compellingly good to not praise.

#417

well nothing more to say

#418

Can you post a wire?

and please, can you tell me how long it takes to make a human, Fullbody and Face model with Nurbs?

#419

another update… I tried to improve every part of the body including the face…hope it looks better  the mesh is not that heavy so its hard to put details on it.
As I mentioned i my last post, I’m not trying to make a specific horse. Just a horse with a decent body and balanced proportions as a ‘generic horse’ but a bit detailed I hope…
For this horse I used a animal anatomy book and some photos for reference…
C&C welcome!

My next project is polys and zbrushing(I really hope I could do a good job enough to post here…heh)

Tad:Tad, I’ll try to post the wires of the head soon… the nose was a bit tricky to me… I think you’ll do a better job.

Satellite1984: thanks for visiting my thread again, Dustin! I’ll soon to visit your thread and and take a look at you work! I know a friend who did the same model you are making so I am very excited to see Tom again! good luck, man!

jdsb:  textures… I hope so too., I would really love to do some texturing… your texturing is fantastic! very realistic too. I think I must learn a lot from you my friend.

goulei: many thanks! I’m glad you like it!

ScottyB_41: I think it’lll be after my graduation when I start to texture these models:)

rblitz7: well, I guess I like to do modeling… I guess it’s like a drug:) I modeled very long when I started school… lately I’m extremely lazy so I don’t model a lot but still try to think as I go on…thanks for asking and hope you like what you see.

Jinian:ah, Jinian, man… thanks once again for your visit and the kind words. I still have some crappy work…hope I could get it improved so I could use it anyway…(I guess every one has that step we don’t want to show.). there’s so much to do…sobb…

the best: I’m glad you take time to visit my thread. I wish you good luck on the 2 projects your doing!

dima_boujou: I’ll soon post a wire. I think you for the interest!
to be honest… it varies a lot from the quality or time limit(pressure)… for instance for a head it could take a day…up to a 3weeks? even a month for a super heavy head…
Full body would take a couple of days up to a couple of weeks.
Some of the nurbs modelers I know make a default head and start from that point so it’s fast. most of the body parts would be the same I guess…
I see you have great interest in nurbs modeling:) hope you enjoy doing them!

she’s beautiful!
