Animation with CAT in 3ds Max

#1

Hey, everyone.
I’m trying to wrap my head around CAT plugin. As far as I know its considered to be a good animation tool and it really seems like a worthy alternative to character studio. At least from the first glance. But I’ve been doing some animation tests and faces certain complications.

Namely I find it real hard to control the interpolation between poses. Limbs with IK tend to fly around like crazy. I’m using the basic human rig. I understand that legs, for instance, are trying to interpolate between FK legs (which are hidden) and IK target… Still at this stage I find it almost impossible to work with.

It would be great to hear other animators opinions on CAT. Maybe I’m doing something totally wrong? Maybe basic human rig is just bad? Or whatever…

P.S.
And another thing I would like to clarify. It doesn’t have to do with CAT but with 3ds Max itself. Sometimes when object rotates during animation it’s rotation is wrong as if there’s something wrong with the curves. But curves are alright and still the bug is there. It only happens with regular bones, never with TCB controlled bones. For years I’ve been wondering, what causes it…
