An excellent piece of work built around a combination of two classic storylines. The modelling and texturing appear detailed and faultless, the animation is lively and natural while the video ties in very well to the audio backing track that works even without sound effects. The only part in the animation that I found puzzling was when the robot was cornered it was then slowly fading into the character walking down the road with no obvious route from one scene to the next.

Overall though a great piece of work with complex animation sequences that are carried off in great style.

cool texturing. but the visor seems too new. please post some wires and the backside

A very complex piece. The animation of the multiple characters was very well handled, offset enough to keep it real. Texturing and modelling very good. Have to admit to being slightly puzzled by the storyline though. There were several points where the action changed in a cut which could have been used to greater dramatic effect. Where the lead character is suddenly holding a female breastplate instead of a male one, and then again where he is running without any obvious motivation. And as noticed already, at the end of the piece.

Good work though overall, obviously a lot of effort has gone into this piece, producing a 5 minute short is no mean feat. :thumbsup:

i agree with the others on the storyline… but i think it could be resolved by planning out the shots in some other way.

i think your next productions will be very nice. wish u luck.

Perhaps a more powerful presentation would attract more attention and convince people to download the 45Mb file! Your first post is essentially your trailer and sales pitch dont let the customers get away before they reach the avi link! Keep it short and consise and make it easy. E.g:

‘Velvet Retina’

Amidst an army of drones the curiosity of one Robot has twisted its fate into a headlong collision with the might of the system and thrown it into a race for survival from the metal grip of its faceless Liquidators

<Insert very clear direct link to AVI>

<Insert non static snapshot (preferably of something getting blown up)>

<Duplicate direct link to AVI>

<Add more blurb here>

Frank, you’re right!
I keep your speech, it’s pretty cool :slight_smile:

let’s see if it was a question of presentation…

I thought the short wasn’t bad. I’m guessing this was for a music video? Anyhow I like the story although I don’t see why he’s running with the chest plate thing. What’s the message there? Also I didn’t feel any tension in that chase scene, and I wasn’t really worried about the robot at all. I think the most dramatic scene overall was the static shot at the end in that almost western showdown kind of composition. That was nice! But I think the story sort of fell apart at the seams. Some scenes you have the robot with very jittery movement and other times running very fluid with football (American Football) Inspired poses. I liked the way the models had a very humanoid Bipedal Skeletal system. Cool. But overall the angles could have been approached more dramatically. The Lighting was good but the shadows jittered allot in a number of scenes, some of that may have been due to compression but not all of it. Also In some scenes it seems you used Depth of Field just because you could not for any specific reason. Depth of field is supposed to draw attention to a specific area of the scene. Attract Focus on that area. And im not to sure about the Music. It did have a sense of morbidity which I thought was ok but the music itself was mediocre at best. Then again if you were doing this for a music video you have to work with what you’ve got right…So finally i think you have a good thing going, but it could use some work.

Very nice animation. I like your robot modeling, and your texturing and lighting throughout the movie is great as well. I like the animation, especially with the group of robots because I always find groups of figures cool, and your’s are animated very well. I also like the storyline of the piece.

very professional scenery light modelling texturing etc

also quite good animation a bit weird in places

abit too much dof and motionblur in places

how about adding sound effects in addition to music ?

overall very good!

Link worked fine for me. And that was great! I liked the part where he went from holding a male breastplate to a female one…that whole breaking out of the mold idea to go search for a woman was very well done. I would have to agree that the music could use a bit more work, but overall it seemed great. Nice work there.
