Animation: ToonMan

#1

An animation I did a few weeks ago. From the beginning I planed to use fur on him, but had to drop it. (rendering-times, dynamic-problems…) The sound is not final (I hope), but it’s good for now. If you want to see the fur-version of the character go to my site

The Escape 11mb

Tnx Sketch…

The clip was mainly done to improve my animation-skills and learn the software. I’ll use a charecter of my own next time.

This is how he looked with his fur:

Kinda plotless…

But cool nevertheless!
I like it, why not make some more.

You could also use your own character, then you’d
be able to use such as your portfolio later on!

Keep animati’n!

Cheers,

He looks really cool (fur verion). However the materials of the gun, his teeth and his tounge look like you took the deafult material and gave it a color.

More then that, the specular of the eyes (the black material) looks strange like rendered in realtime with openGL

Downloaded and watched the animation - lol! i liked it!

The one with fur was extremely cool! :buttrock:

Did you use Shag:Fur? Or anything else?
And, you say it’s not your character… where did you get it?
Can you give me a URL? Or send it to me? ( lars@gfxdesigners.com )

Tnx for the comments.

About the materials: Well the raygun is suppose to look plastic. The teeth and toung actually have textures. Hard to see in this picture tough. Since I had to drop the fur and went toon, I didn’t spend any more time on them. Maybe I should go back and fix it…:hmm:

And the charecter is Stitch from the Disney-movie. I did the modeling my self, just “borrowed” the design. It’s done in XSI.

great stuff,

The fur version looks great, but what is with the wiered crease at the ankle. I bet thatis a pain to get to work right with animation.

Aslo, I liked the animation it was cool, but maybe try and do a toon smole rather the more realistic kind, it might fit better, great work though

the shag hair character is really fantastic. really good job on that one. the animation is creative but a little chunky. the skinning needs work around the elbows, and it suffers from slow “floaty” animating. the lilo and stitch type of animation is fast and hyper. you should grab all your keyframes and shrink your timeline. regardless though, it is an excellent job.

I dont really have any comments on the delivery of the animation or the totall composition of the piece.

Overall I think it was very very funny… I actually laughed out loud after the smoke cleared seeing him trying to climb the fence…it made me laugh which made it worthy enough to comment…nice job

Amazing work!
Could you post a wireframe to us?

That is some nice work. I love the pci of the fur. As mentioned for a finish you would want to get the odd look around the ankles touched up. As for animation I like it. AS for the plot - I think it s funny. The ninja smoke escape that did not turn out. Also sure an original character would be cool but when just working on anitmation - its the animation that is the most important.

Tnx all:)

And mucha gracias for putting me on the frontpage!!!

requiem, I was to lazy to animate him fast hyper. It’s not just a matter scale the hole animation down. If you want him to be faster and more hyper you have to “add more keyframes”. More motion in the same timeframe. More work.

Here is the wireframe:

aaahhhh, that’s is such an adorable rendition of Stitch in 3D!!! OOOHHH MAN, they should do a 3D CG version of Lilo & Stitch. That fur is amazingly real looking!

#14

that is some funny stuff. Great job with everything, i didnt notice anything wring with his ankles even when i went back to it and tried to look for it. All i noticed were the folds of skin at the ankles which looked to me, that you were just trying to represent depth. Anyway it like how real Stitch looks, and how fluid his actions are, but i definitly agree with speeding the entire animation up a little. Keep it up.

#15

Yeaaaahhhhh !!! Stitch is one of my favorite disney charaters !

You’ve done a good job with the fur version… need a little more work on all the non fur shaders (the gun, the teeth, mouth…)

But really great !

:buttrock: it rocks baby !

That looks great! too bad you had to lose the fur. I have a page in my ideas book to do a 3D stitch with fur in Maya. I hope I could do it as well as you if I ever try it!

Fur is Frikkin’ Great.

Animation also funny haha.
well, I would love to see animation with fur version.

Hope you could improve gun looking better.
compare with perfect fur looking gun looks too 3d for me.

I didn’t know stitch would feature in Monsters Inc. 2
Congratulations!!

It’s really cute, man. I love its face.:applause:
