Animation from psd layers (CS4)

#1

I was asking this earlier at the Photoshop part of this forum, but got no answers, so maybe better luck here…

Sometimes I would like to do “structure animation” from photoshop layers - one building at the top of another as a kind of “making of”. Is there some easy/fast way to do this? I’d prefer using Photoshop, but other programs from CS4 Master Collection are also awailable (and if there is some free tool, that is also OK).

Longer explanation with example images can be found at the orginal thread here.

Thank you in advance.

In Photoshop, switch the Timeline to Frames and then just show and hide layers. Adjust timing as you like.

Or, if need be, do your animation backwards, then just reverse it when done.

Unless I’m not understanding what you’re trying to do.

^ My apologies for a late reply, been very busy lately. I was probably just a bit lazy and trying to make life slightly faster/easier, trying to avoid waste of time for not so creative part of work. Something like “one click solution” for making animation where layers would pile up starting from background and stopping when the top layer is also visible (everything between remains visible). It can be done in both - timeline and frame mode and when only few layers and you get the timing/framerate right at the first time, its not a problem. But whith a lot of layers or when just have to adjust something, it is a bit frustrating and a lot of clicks.

Raising the old thread, since I actually found a solution to this. Solution posted to the orginal thread here.
