Anchoring something at two ends (bracket or hinge)

#1

Hello,

I’m looking for the best way anchor something at two ends.

bottom anchor will need to rotate back and forwards only and the top one will obviously have to move but maintain it’s anchored position on the thing its attached too.

Should I use the look at constraint and a dummy?

Basic Diagram attached:

Any help would be great!!!

Cheers,

when you want to anchor something at two ends, it’s either some stretchy setup, IK, or combination of both.

Hey thanks for the reply but I really have no idea what that means.

well, what you vaguely painted looks like something that will bend in the middle when you move either of two anchors. That’s classic IK right there, and you rig it like a leg or an arm.

Other ways to setup someting held between two point is to make it stretchy. Make it look from point A to point B, point constraint at point A, and while measuring distance between A and B make it scale so that it gives the illusion that point B is also “fixed”. Google for more exact example, there should be loads of different ways to do it.

And then there are complex setups, when you want it to be both bendy and stretchy.
