Anatomy Thread of Anand - 2D/3D
Hi Anand!
This piece is turning out to be SO beautiful…I love the expression on her face!
Today I went through your entire sketchbook…read alot of things and saw all the stuff you’ve posted…And its MINDBLOWING! :applause:
I loved your experiments with Wacom, charcoal, conte crayons, soft pastels, oil pastels and ofcourse 3D. (did I miss something? :D)
I believe you must be very close to being a master like Bernini who had used every media…only he wouldn’t have had a computer!
So you have an edge ![]()
You truly are a master Anand…Please keep inspiring!
Ratul
Edit: I was just curious as to what medium did you use for sketches in your thread (not the ones where you’ve mentioned charcoal but the other ones…like for master copies)?

I always wonder what makes you to work like this so superb and splendor. We all talk about art is our breath, our passion like that. After seeing your work day after day, I feel thats they are all nonsense. At moments of great enthusiasm it seems to me that no one else in the world made something this beautiful. There are a lot and lot of thing to study from you. I strongly believe you are the master who knows much more
drawing, painting, sculpting, music and what else!
I really admire the dedication and patience to work and to learn even after long stretched schedules. One day or another we all are going to see your name at top of the heap. Allow me to lend your tag line Talent is cheap, dedication is expensive; it may cost you your whole life… But what else is life for?
You are always an inspiration to do something creative.
Regards,
Sivan

I am still working on the Rodin sculpture… had to change the pose… will post some time later today… Meanwhile, a coupla pages from the sketch book I forgot to post:

Hey Magda! Thanks for dropping by! I am not half as productive as I would like to be… I have a full time job to do!
Update: I happened to see another photograph of “La Belle Heaulmiere” from a different angle and immediately saw that my posing was all wrong!!.. Now I see why her thighs looked so short in the other photo… they where fore-shortened!!.. My apologies to Maestro Rodin for doubting him for a moment!!

Laying off the old lady for sometime.(dont worry, Serena… you will get your wall paper soon!)…
This is a scene from the Indian epic “Mahabharatha” that I was thinking of sculpting for quite some time now… I made rough poses in Maya some time ago, but I was being lazy about starting to sculpt. Now that I have the transpose tools in ZBrush, I think it will be easy for me to sculpt and then pose… I am pretty excited!!
The story line goes thus: King Shanthanu falls in love with a maid at the bank of river Ganga and proposes… the girl, who is actually the river itself in human form, accepts on condition that the king never questions anything she does. King agrees… they get married… Ganga gets into the habit of throwing every child born to them into the river(which is actually herself)… 7 years and 7 infanticides later, she is about to drown the 8th child, when the King loses control over himself and stops her.(this is the moment I want to capture.) The river-girl reveals her secret and leaves him, taking the child along. She returns the child after he is grown, and he comes to be known as Bheeshma(the awesome)

Started sculpting Ganga… She will not be quite so bare in the final image, but I wanted to study as much as possible in the process. Still working on the arms and legs… need to try more variety on the face too… should have more character. Ben(justmeina) and Ron(eyrebrush) did some really cool poses for me, so I will be using those to help me along with Shanthanu.

hey anandpg…its already looking great…nice theme u’ve picked up!!! its always great to see some indian mythological artworks getting developed…!!!
looking forward to see some exciting stuff…i guess those duo images are from maya, r u using maya base mesh or zpshere as starting point for sculpting Ganga??
Hey Amrinder! Thanks, dude! Glad to be of any use!
Hi Dhruba! Thanks for dropping by… I grew up reading and listening to stories from the great Indian epics, so I thought it would be a good idea to try and sculpt scenes from them…
Ya… I am using a base mesh I modeled in Maya… Here are some screen grabs:

A bit more sculpting on the the upper body and arms… trying to find rythm and get the distribution of mass right. I could use some critiques, for sure!!
btw, the whole process and even the posing are largely influenced by the amazing new ZBrush3 tutorial by Zack Petroc(available in gnomonology.com)
