Wow great sketch Ruos
cool work Fes
@FES WOW ! for me that count as a 5 torsos
how many hours did you spent for that ? awesome !
@KMSCOTTMOORE Which technique did you use ? Chalk ? I really like the result
@Frejasphere I really like the oil and chalk very “personal” style even in a workshop
@Michael-Olsak Great I love them. It can be easily seen how you hand is “used” to sketch, your brain seem to find immediatly the correct lines not like mine that has to do a lot more of search.
@Ruos KEEP GOING !!
Here’s another 4

Thanks jojo1975. I’m not absolutely sure how long it took, I didn’t count… but probably about 4-5 hrs. :curious:

C&C welcome
It’s a true blessing to see tons of overflowing nice works, which are pleasing to the eyes and worth learning from.
It’s my 3/50 of anatomy drawing…still have to try my best.
039 MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
Study for the Libyan Sibyl
1511

ytresu: That’s a wonderful break down, thanks for the sharing. Nice hatching! Bold and to the right place. Nice colors too.
Fes: 064- Love the texturing, clean and delicate. Very professional!
Bell7: 013- a few hours? Wow. It’s outstanding. Nice sense of volume and dented feels.
085- stunning, has a breadth of spirit in it, and the head part is quite expressive.
033- wow…i simply fall in love with this piece. though the volume of his raised arm is absorbed bit too much by the shadow.
TripletDad: 042- for the head part you did a nice job. And your no. 3 & 4…beautiful, love them both.
kmscottmoore: 005- i think the persona’s centre of weight is more unbalanced, i.e. more in dynamic in the original painting. That affects the spine shape and shoulder rotation. Though, you got a beautiful shadings defining muscle groups in the torso. I’d suggest the left part of the Scapula area could have bit wider white (highlight range) area.
Intervain: 061- tons of delicacy. you said it’s not there, but it’s there. 062-this is a mind-blowing piece, quite a luscious, fleshy look.
Frejasphere: 066, 021- Love the coherence among the colours. 17, 18, 19 & 20- the mild color is cool too.
YMS: 087- rough, bold, dramatic! 041- I like the bursh touches esp. around the left chest and shoulder. Wow, you are quite prolific.
Laleloh: I love your sketching, very clean and alomst stylistic. neatly defined countour and smooth shading.
NR43: 054- erg goed. love how you handle the squeezed part of the leg and the torso.
jojo1975: That’s a nice deidication to art. you can grab the volume nicely, and the contour is clean too. I also just got some basic sketching classes recently , and i find as soon as i learn some basic know-how and theory about sketching, it helps me a ton.
craban: 063,002,013- i love 063 and specifically 013. it has quite a melancholy look
MechaHateChimp: the way you circling up muscles and the color applied are quite enjoyable to watch. Your paintings are always quality works.
monicaitt: 110- nice colors. I like the sense of mildness the sketching brings.
jancko: 076- i like the attemp of cross hatching. 016,019,051,052,056,062,069- amazing! different kind of lines bring various styles. I particularily like 052.
Kewn: 013- nice sense of volume!
JoshT: it’s hard to describe, but your brushing has kind of swiftness that i admire. The Shading is soft and mild, nice.
AztcFireFlower: your drawing about Ribera looks nice, i like how you handle the head part.
Nothingness: your Laocoon had just blown me away.
pierceda: your no. 8 and 9 are nice, and i like no. 8.
Redsand1080: thanks for the compliment.
vanlicht - thank you very much - you made me blush
Nice walk-through btw!
yet another Rubens this time - The Abduction of Ganymede
michael-olszak - like your line work, think Nr080 is my favourite.
Maidith - you’ve made 010 really moody, the colour scheme is fab.
Ruos - would like to see more
ytresu - great to see how it comes together, thanks for posting the steps!
vanlicht - again, great to see others at work and to watch the figure taking such beautiful form and detail. Thanks for the comments, I wanted an almost metallic feel for 013 and it just seemed to come together quickly with a (by chance) combination of brush dabs & strokes to get the skin texture.
Intervain - love how the painting seems to flow up with a focus on the face
Great to see so much work, looking forward to the next study (and hopefully some time this week to add another study or two, damn the day job!! :)).
LaleLoh: great job on number 25, I can feel the depth of the guy going back into space.
Vanlicht: Thank you for showing a breakdown of your working process. I love how you breakdown the figure into the basic shapes. You make it look so easy. ![]()
ytresu: Great use of lines, they really give the feel of the form of the body. I love the use of color on the final render as well.
jojo1975: Nice hatching style, especially on the third drawing. It has a little bit of a comic book feel to me and I like it. The 4th drawing has a nice sense of depth to the figure. keep up the great work.

Ruos: Wow, that greats Ruos. Nice use of highlights. Can’t wait to see more.
Maidith: I love the eyes in your Dawn painting, along with the gentle curves of the body. Very natural. The colors in the crouching boy are very expressive. Especially the highlight glow you put around the figure.
Michael-olsazk: You have a execellent feel for the form of the body. The torso on the second and third drawing feel like they are carved right out of paper and standing out. I like your use of lines.

Fes: That is a great Ruben painting of, The Union of Earth and Water. I love the colors and textures.
Bell7: I like the marble like texture to it. Looks great. Your Neptune painting I love.
kmscottmoore: Great muscle definition. Your drawing certainly shows all the aspects of shading to make the figure life like. keep up the good work.
intervain: Great job on the, The Holy Family with Sts Elizabeth and John the Baptist.

Frejasphere: I like your hatching technique. Very fluid in the Leda, by Leonardo da Vinci.
I also liked the colors in your chalk pastel drawings.
YMS: The tones of your second painting look great. They certainly define the body very well.
Nr43: I love your Ganymede drawing, the bold lines make the drawing pop off the page. Keep it up. ![]()

jojo1975: Love the crosshatching in your first drawing

I think thats everyone. My apologizes if I missed anyone.

3rd one for the challenge, definetly not going to make the 50 mark. I didn’t like my shading at all with this one. ack.

MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
Christ Carrying the Cross
1521
Marble, height 205 cm
Santa Maria sopra Minerva, Rome

hmm the drawing underneath scanned through crude. oh well
more to come.
I’m so far behind, so my apologies to anyone I left out:
Fes, great work!
jojo1975, thanks! The last one was Negro lead on laid paper. Negro is very black, about a 6B, but it doesn’t have that nasty shiny look of graphite when rubbed. The laid paper helps to break up the edges.
ytresu, thanks for posting the steps. I always like to see how everyone does “their thing”.
vanlicht, very nice!
spartan02, thanks!
Bell7 - thank you
spartan02 - thanks very much!
another one today - I’m inspired
posing this guy was really hard for me - the body is bent in such a way that I found it really nightmarish to recreate the pose
so forgive his chunkiness LOL
Rubens - Cupid

Hi, Aggie93, the 039 was done all in photoshop. 019 was done with water sketch pencil if you didn’t mean 039.
Thanks all for the heartly reply.
LaleLoh: neat as usual, i’d suggest make the shadow part darker.
spartan02: defining the muscle groups nicely.
Intervain: another brilliant piece, making me want to draw that piece too! How inspiring.
And yeah about chunkiness, i find the torso is bit widened and the right thigh where it connects the hip is thickened just a little bit. But looks at the texture, and the feather!
It’d be great if you could share your step and what bursh to use in painter/ photoshop. That’d be more wothy than gold.
All works is Great!
Intervain: Great coloristic!
Fes: No have words!![]()
Intervain: Great stuff!
MechaHateChimp: I like your works!
vanlicht: & ytresu: your explanations are step by step remarkable. It is very interesting to see work in progress

time for another one - plus a small walk-through to give you an idea of the messy drawing process of mine LOL [as you can see I use a very low opacity - usually around 10% and cover it step by step - all in Photoshop btw]
Rubens again - this time it’s Venus Frigida

I admit I lost patience and didn’t quite finish her leg

Fantastic work everyeone! I’ll post some C&C’s when I get home.
