#421

Hey everyone I see some pretty nice work in this thread yall.

I just wanted to post to say that I am in and will try to do as many as I can seeing as I am a little late.

Here is my first begining of Carrivagio’s ā€œChrist at the Column.ā€ I am just painting the Jesus part not the entire piece as this is for torso practice. I am going to do others and maybe come back to this later.

I am not particularliy fond of the face but meh…

I will proly just continue by putting the rest in my sketch thread.

YMS, I especially like the last one in that sequence, the color of the background really helps bring out the life in the pose.

#425

YMS wow I really dig those Rubens interpretations!

Womball good to see traditional work in here as well. Mind the proportions though (legs in 54 and 90, head size in 54), 94 is my fav from those 3 studies

AnOldFriend welcome  I’d love to see you taking this one a bit further by blending a bit.

Nothingness can’t the modeling wait? :stuck_out_tongue: I really like your paintings!

Here’s one I did this morning. took about 90min (60min to get the lines right, 30min for shading)

109:
Nude Viewed from Behind

Black chalk with white highlights on blue paper
Forsyth Wickes Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

EDIT: fixed the shoulder a bit, it was bothering me

I must say that rebecca’s guide in post 99 helped a lot!
Looking forward to see more work here…

stsMal, NR43, Redsand, ha-dou-ken, Darktwin, thanks guys!

Some very nice work done while I was gone. Don't stop no one!!

Will come back with a few of the torsos and comments

The torsos

NR43, nice ass in that one

YMS, try painting texture in those works. Use a bristle brush or something. They look great already but just to push them a step further.

Womball, great to see you sketching. Putting that pencil into a good use.

AnOldFriend, use more values. When you’re doing a monochromatic painting you should pay attention to that. Watch the lighting and all. Good luck with the next one!

Nothingness, amazing work from you! Especially the Milon of Crotona and St Jerome and the Angel. Awesome!

#427

After Rubens, The cosequences of the war

NR43: your nude from Prud’hom is great<>the shading is damn well done<>go ahead!

YMS: I like your 050: great colors and volumes

piccolabella: you got an expressive style<>good hatching

Womball: your 090 is well done<>right proportions and fine line<>I like this piece

This thread is impressive! One must do an hard work to stay tuned with all those artists!

#428

thanks ytresu it were the lines that were hard to get right
your latest is quite impressive, still wondering how you manage to do that…

#429

damn, i have tons of comics and anime i need to read/watch and i dont have the time to draw much… well mayby i’ll have the time to draw few pieces now and then :arteest:

001:
MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
A Man: Study for a figure in Battle of Cascina cartoon
1504-05
Pen and brush, 42 x 28 cm
British Museum, London

002:
MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
Bacchus

Marble, height: 203 cm
Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence

#430

RUBENS, Pieter Pauwel
Descent from the Cross
1616-17
Oil on canvas, 425 x 295 cm
MusƩe des Beaux-Arts, Lille

This is graphite on paper with some PS manip…just in case anyone is wonderin’.

NR43: Thnx man! I just drew it with pencil, then brought it into PS…created a solid fill layer above the line werk, set it soft light at 50%. That gave me the the look I was goin for. Nice clean lines in those last torsos you posted! Just keep at it and you’ll nail the hatching and proportions here very soon!

Darktwin: Thnx! I really like your shading technique…way to show the way the light strikes the diff. planes.

Helen-Baq: Thanks you! Gorgeous rendition of ā€˜Day’ btw. I like that u used green…interesting and kewl.

DiM: Nice rendering of the skin tones in that angel piece.

ytresu: Thnx! I think it’s real kewl to see u experimenting w/ the diff. techniques. Interesting texture in that Bacchus satyr leg.

mitze: Much obliged. Very nice hatching technique you have…quite effective!

piccolabella: That female angel piece is very nice…so soft, subtle and be-ew-ti-ful.

pureghostgr: Nice blocking of light and shadow.

nothingness: You have some very nice pieces. Love the digital painting.

jarvis: kewl anim.

hearbeat: I really, really like ur hatching.

cyborgJA: nice hatching! I wanna see ā€˜em bigger tho’ so I can take in all the detail!!

lexlex: nice hatching.

janko: I like seeing the WIPs!

cgicecube: Very kewl…perhaps reduce the intensity of the whites in certain areas and really put them where you want the focus to be. that way you can really emphasize certain areas over others and better direct the attention of the viewer. nice werk!

anoldfriend: pretty neat letting most of the piece be all black! I’d like to see u refine it a lil more tho’.

womball: nice hatching! don’t be afraid to spend time really analyzing the pieces while u werk tho’. Even tho’ we’re supposed to attempt to do 50…i am of the opinion it’s better to do less and really learn and analyze the form and structure instead of werking quick and not takin’ in as much due to the pressure of tryin’ to do so many. Just my humble opinion tho. nice werk!

YMS: Jupiter and Calisto is awesome!

razz: is that an ink-wash? Awesome…reminds me of how Rembrandt would use the ink wash.

Puppeli: Nice Bacchus!

#431

The latest drawing is amazing redsand! I don’t intend to do all in a month, I have a lot of other work too! I will try to take more time with future pieces, and I want to explore Conte and perhaps charcoal if I can get over the messiness of it.

#432

here’s number 5…
060:
RUBENS, Pieter Pauwel
The Four Continents
c. 1615
Oil on canvas, 209 x 284 cm
Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

NR43: i love the work on the blue backdrop…

Redsand: i really love your style, so detailed… it’s how i always imagine my drawings to be, though they never really get there.

nothingness: great as always

#433

Well, I managed to put together 8 new studies in the last two days, however, I got around to coloring only these 3 today. My apologies for not starting on the video tutorial… I might have bit off more than I can chew and I fear I wont get around to it until I get most of these done. Im trying hard to focus more on finishing all 50 because and with less than 2 weeks left I gotta start hammering these out. I’ll post a few more tomorrow. - J

#434

MechaHateChimp: your studies are great! I love your style and the traitment of the human body<>lights and shadows are well done. Your works are an example for us.
PS: for the background are you using a texture or a photo of a paper sheet?

Redsand1080: Gorgeous interpretation of the Descent from the Cross<>I like the colors and the line drawing

razz: I love your last torsos<>they remember me some drawings from G.B Tiepolo (and this is a compliment!)

Nothingness: good studies<>the better for me is [b]Study for Adam
