only my second torso… i was doing well until i got to the head, good thing it’s not a head study :slight_smile:

everyone’s sketches are really great… i’m absorbing so much here.

Great updates from everyone! I love some of the pencilworks I have seen.

Here is number 07 from me:

           002:
           MICHELANGELO Buonarroti

           Marble, height: 203 cm
           Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence

Tough piece and I am still not quite sure what is going on with the lighting on the abdominal area.
Keep up the great work everyone!

Here’s something I decided to try. It’s torso #005. I tried to make an animated version of how I came to the end product so you could see how I work. Was just experimenting with my tablet since I don’t paint that much, but now that I’ve looked at the animation, it’s obvious (to me anyway) that I didn’t do that much painting. Anyway, here it is.

I’ll be putting up more images later.

Nice work :slight_smile: around !
My two attempts at torso #3, not at all happy with them and I decided to continue with the next one so I am posting them

I’m loving this thread and all your works !

@MechaHateChimp : great works as usual !

@NR43 : Glad you like my plates :slight_smile: In my opinion you have a good eye but you should play more with shadows to enhance muscles’ volumes

@ytresu : finally another italian ! I love your #055

@wiggin : I think you are on the right way. Each pic express an high sense of volumes. You only have…practice !

@Helen-Baq : always gentle palette. I love it !

@Mal-1 : a pro-hand. Nothing to say OoO

@Redsand1080 : ahah it was really ‘dark’ :))
I’m glad you like my greens even if they are far from a photo-quality 8) Well, here in Italy there’s a strange theory on Michelangelo and his personal vision of female body BUT I don’t want to cause a flame so I won’t write it :stuck_out_tongue:

@ThomasPhoenix : I promise, I’ll post bigger images starting from this one. Click on the 800 pxl to see the larger one

@YMS : I don’t know what there’s in your style but it attracts me everytime. I’m waiting for new images.

@darktwin : man you pencils are…I don’t know the eng word. It’s like to see a wip of a statue. You cut the ‘muscles’ blocks’. Beautiful, beautiful an beautiful !

Here my third pic (90 mins : pure sketches). Click on it to see a 2000pxl image (600KB)

Hello! This is my first post on these boards. I couldn’t resist this exercise. These are all very beautiful! I envy how inspired and free many of these drawings are, like you’re feeling the subject. It’s a struggle for me just to copy, but I know we all start somewhere. I have little experience with anatomy but I think it’s awesome and I want to learn it, so my goal is to do 4 of these torsos a day to meet the deadline. Here are the first four I did yesterday, the first two in my sketchbook and the second pair in painter classic:

011:
MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
David
1504
Marble, height 434 cm
Galleria dell’Accademia, Florence

069:
BERNINI, Gian Lorenzo
Truth

040:

Tomb of Giuliano de’ Medici (detail)
1526-33

Sagrestia Nuova, San Lorenzo, Florence

014:
MICHELANGELO Buonarroti

         060:

         c. 1615

         Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

who couldn’t resist a baby’s torso?

I don’t usually “do” digital, but you guys inspired me to give it a try. Plus, I was purposely trying to imitate the style of a certain saucy forum moderator . . . :smiley:

Okay I feel like i’m done for now. I’ll try a second one in color.
