Wow, this project is super! Lots of great heads!
Well, this is my first try: (pencil and a sheet of paper)

:bounce:

Kunal: Lovely! Ill try pencil next time just because of you!

Agos-tino: Wow, nice colors! on both. I always have trouble with dark skin tones…

#103

Great stuffs already in this thread; Ago-stino, Flydesign your drawings are really nice.
Good work everyone!

#104

Alright heres my first go.
Since I don’t have my PC at home yet and no scanner at work the only way to get it up is to take a picture of it with my cell phone so it comes out quite blurry.

I did no.67

I really need to work on my 2d so this is alot of fun.
I don’t know if I will have time to do all 50 though as I am quite slow right now, and with siggraph looming and deadlines on the horizon I don’t have alot of time. I am going to aim for at least one a day though.

BTW really nice sketches so far from you all, I almost didnt want to post mine after seeing them. :wise:

#105

my take on nr.2
the proportions are way off, but it’s still a fun exercise! taking on the next one as we speak! :bounce:
and it’s tricky with the proportions in zbrush, because it doesn’t have a perspective wiev, that’s why in max it is looking completely different!

#106

That’s hot Miezis! I like the smaller one better. I’m like a super newbie modeller. Do you think that doing this could be helpful or too much for a novice?

Thank you for the comments Ursula and Sophie. Nice works everybody. This class is cool!

Great studies all <> I will be back with crits and more of my studies which I am doing by drawing the heads in reverse which ironically I had just started <> here is image #54 from Durer drawn in reverse <> By the way as most of you know I am not reversing these and drawing them I am reversing them mentally so I have to analyze them a bit more while drawing and don’t get into a situation where I am just coping and not thinking.

Also I should comment that I am not concerned with likeness or exactness but with analyzing and learning <> if you are just beginning try to draw what you see and learn the basic eye/hand skills you will need later in your career <> you will have plenty of time to experiment later.

I do this occasionally when working from life as well.

aLoneCuzzo: I’m not an expert modeler myself
I guess this class is more of a anotomy study, and if you’re not familiar with your modeling/drawing aplications, this WILL be a test for you. but hey, this could be a great practise even if you don’t do a whooping 50 or 15 heads in a month!

Wow, this is amazing to watch everybody’s work! I really like how absolutely everyone, even using similar tools, will come out looking completely different in style. I may try a few with traditional pencil/charcoal as well, since I haven’t used that medium in awhile and it’s good practice.

Used the grid system again - how I do it is set up lines where I think points are important and have the ref image with the lines on my second monitor on my left. My canvas is on my right monitor in front of me, tablet on the desk, etc. I put the same grid lines on my canvas and then the rest is just eyeballing/freehand.

Since I’m so new, this is like art school for me - I don’t feel bad using a grid though I understand that people with more experience would want to completely freehand it. I do want to try not using a grid for the last 5 heads or so.

I did this one in grayscale, because even though it’s a colored clay, I thought it would come out better shrug I’m trying something new on each one for fun and to keep it interesting.

Used a spackle brush to blend on this one.

Should I not bother with showing a side by side with the original ref? No one else is doing it… hehe

Gah, looking at it in preview I see all kinds of minor errors I want to correct – but I can’t keep at them, I’ll never get to the next head!!

Moin Moin,
here are the heads i have been drawing so far

10% finished

sorry maybe a dumb question but am i supposed to post the pictures here as well?
and how can i post pictures here without uploading them? cause that would require me twice the space if i would post them here and in the other thread.

#116

Oh, yay, I am soo excited! And it’s really great to see a bunch of different media in this thread already. *runs off for pencil and paper… wooo whooo!! :bounce:

#117

Wow! An amazing collection of images so far! :bounce:

Please guys, don’t be shy about posting your work. There is only one way to get better, and that is to see your work in comparison to others and to learn from the other people here.

Bourbaki, not a stupid question at all. There are different image hosting options, one is http://www.imageshack.us/

Will be back in a bit to post some comments, but the main thing is to keep up the great work! It’s fantastic to see the variety here.

Cheers,
