after 5 months hard work,I finally finished this buggy project.I like buggy and 4X4 vehicle very much,so I tried to build a buggy in MAYA.
c&c are welcome, hope you guys like it!!

Very impressive and complex, I dig it.
Do you have manual overrides for all the elements you’ve automated? Individual wheel spin, body control/suspension?
Also, I’ve tried a number of setups for having wheels stay on a terrain independantly of each other. Was yours hand keyed or was there a process for it?
Great stuff man, keep it up.
the wheels is automaticly follow the terrain, its just a geometry constrain.
the wheel spin, suspension, steering, inertial are all automaticly.I can do some adjustment when I need a break or wheel slide and drift.and all the parts can be manual adjusted.
Wow! Really amazing stuff!
Did you get the auto inertia thing done through a separate layer of rigid bodies or something?
Also, may I ask what technique you used for the squashing of the wheels? Was it good ol fashioned lattices?
Awesome stuff man!
you know, this was…awesomely crazy. I couldn’t stop looking at it, gosh that was some HARD work man ! But for a second, there were a lot of controls, kind of hard to fallow. This is the only thing I could squeeze out, good job !
man, your rigs are incredible… I just looked at your Neo rigon youtube the other day so it’s funny you’re on the top row here!
do you have an engineering background? how do you wrap your head around all of the mechanics. that neo rig was awesome, all of those pistons and whatnot all working automatically
yeah! something like that.the inertia system is outside of the vehicle.it reads the body value and feedback the rotation value to the chasiss through some spring constrains setup.
the tire squashing is made with wrap deformer.
thanks for all the commentis!
im not an engineer, and i have no engineering background.i just like machine very much.
so I made NEO and the buggy, just to practice my rigging technique.
the secret of do things like these is just patient and preciseness.you have to push yourself to the level that you never have reached everytime!!
and I learn these skills all by myself,i just have learned some junior tutorials like Gnomon,D-tutor and something like that
excellent work , manitou !
where can i buy the DVD ? (joking)
i especially love the part , where the car goes “front-and-back” on the motionpaths , but also i like a lot the drifting-options and the dynamics - i am loving it .
5-stars
i don’t have much expierience in rigging, but this is just awesome!
also your wall-e rig and the neo. holy crap
respect
