altering models in the messiah workflow

#1

im considering getting the workstation version of messiah:studio and i have a quick question if someone could answer it for me.

after i have imported a model to be animated into messiah and have completed a number of frames, how easy is it to alter the model.
for example if a client requested changes to the model im animating would i need an api plugin to take the model back into the modelling app and then transfer it back again?

Why would you like it to be so complicated?

There is a “REPLACE” function in Messiah, you just select your model in messiah and the path where is the new one, and it’s done. That doesn’t matter if the new model does’nt have the same number of polygons or points. Actually, that can even be a completely different object.

Or, you can save your project and close Messiah, COPY+PASTE the new model in your folder where was the old one. And when you will open your project once again in Messiah, it will load the new one.

That’s a good way to have an “animatable” version of your model (with few poly’s), and a render one (the full model).

lol complications always arise, im just making sure my investment will be worthwhile.

You can easily swap a new model for an old one, as long as there aren’t drastic structurally changes, like extra limbs, or proportions. Even then it is more than possible to make edits to your rig to compensate, your animation should be fine more or less.

Cheers,
