Hey guys, girls

Im a very sceptic man if its about cheating…But.

I did some research. About the eyes. It is possible to pasint such eyes, I dont think its photo, even I could paint similar eyes (ok, I have minor traditional art experience). It`s more easier to paint lifelike eyes, than making it in 3D…

The hands. I think, its a well painted hand. Sure its painted using a reference, but I dont think, thats a paintover, or photo manip.

Similar lips can be drawn easy.

Of course the main requirement is TALENT. She`s well equipped with this ultimate weapon.

Moreover, I`m really get pissed off, if someone tries to define what is art, and what is not.

I think, artwork is the result of a creative process. The technique is irrevelant. I dont care (as a viewer) how one made her/his artwork. If the technique defines art, its over.

I really dont care (as a viewer) how ahe made this beautiful images, but Im sure that it is artwork. From technical point of view, I am really curiuous how she made, I have my ideas for her workflow, but that`s my own thoughts.

Moreover, art is illusion. And noone should ask the illusionist how he makes the illusion. Becvause illusion is cheating.

Great work Linda.

Fantastic painting with a great amount of life in it. Simply love your works  . Hope u aren’t affected by some of those immature comments made by some :). Believed those sensible ones will know if it’s painted or not. Looking forward to more beautiful works from you.

#104

hops on bandwagon
sheesh, people really dont exaggerate when they are describing your work!
oh, and congrats on the contraversy! :wavey:

having followed lindas work for about 4-5 years now, and seeing her work evolve to this point, i have to say that i dont really care if she does use photo elements for her work. there is a point where you get so good that the only way to get that sense of realism is to use heavy references. we all do it in one form or another.
the only way its wrong ( from my point of view ) is if you copy and cant even do as little as give the original piece any justice. if you can enhance it with your own artistic judgement and skill then go right ahead.

the difference between artists that just paint over and linda, is that lindas work looks good and refreshing. if she uses photographs in her newer work, atleast she manages to make them look good. if she uses references and does indeed paint these 100%, all the more power to her.

Hi everyone,
Well I’ve seen an interesting debate between those who think it’s photo manipulation ( because according to them, it’s impossible to paint like that) and those who think it’s 100% original.
I think it’s 100% painted, using photo ref ( I previously asked Linda to be sure about it) like a painter would use a living model. Nothing shocking about it.
A gifted painter can represent EVERYTHING he want : just take a look at the Hyperealistic school in painting, to get some proof of it…
BUT I must say I’m a bit sad to see that entries with hyperrealistic subjects ( faces, cars…), get hundreds of reactions, while some top notch creative pictures (some Alienware challenge entries in CG-choice for ex) don’t even get 10 reactions ! Realistic pict are interesting, but what a lack of balance !
Of course, this remark is not a critic adressed to Linda, who post what she wants, and has shown her beautiful imagination many times.
Bye.

That doesn’t really prove anything. There’s grain filters etc. in Photoshop. You can also achieve similar with textures. Many people use grain to create realism and detail.

I’m not saying using photos is wrong, nor I say that stuff like that couldn’t be painted. It’s just the speed Enayla does them, it really makes me wonder. The best painters I know of have done mattes and photorealism, and they have said that photorealism without photographs is tedious job they loath. And the only way of doing them quickly is to use photos. I find it hard to believe that Enayla would be an exception.

For the Enayla fan club, question everything. Or at least, let others do it.

Let me put this short: I believe Enayla can paint stuff like this. I also believe that she have used photographs to quicken her progress. There is nothing wrong with that, I enjoy the works done that way. Same goes to Dusso who’s my all time favorite. I’d just hope that everyone would make it clear how their works are done, to be honest about it and we wouldn’t get threads and accusations like this.

PS. She said she used PS only, not Painter.

I wrote a big comment, but internet crashed. Well I will try do write again…

LOL! OF COURSE THEY ARE PHOTO RETOUCHING! But who cares about it?

Hey Linda!

I collect your artwork since you posted at elfwood some drawings. They didn’t have precision, but at that time I was sure you would be a great artist. Just a few years passed and you’re on the top. I imagined you would go high but you went higger.

I am really impressed with your technical progress since you got a wacon tablet, but the most important on you is not your technique, but your sense of direction in the digital art.

You know to choose and how to develop the best themes and you’re on the front of the changes of the visual arts, since technology entered on it.

You are still young, but works as a master.

I would give you all the stars

Smooth and Beauty

as always

click -> put in background centered …

Yupiiii, 2 more tremenduous pictures to put on my background ! Unfortunately, my desktop is only 1600x1200 and I can barely put all my favorite pics in there…they are so tiny !! lol

Ok, stop joking. Just wanted to say, it’s always a great pleasure to see your work. A pity I don’t live in Sweden to follow some of your lessons you’re giving. Each time I see a new painting from you, is like having sunshine straight on my face ! (Yep, I’m pretty brownish now :op)

Damm it. Why can’t I paint like that!

Bra jobbat tjejen

The answer, in my opinion, is simple:

CGTalk has to split the 2D forums, so that 2D 100% handmade (and digital) paintings go into one side, 50% photographs plus 50% matte paintings go under the other side.

Each artist take the responsibility to be honest and to put his image on the right place on CgTalk forum.

Linda is certainly a great artist. But in this very case, she left the public in the doubt.

Anyway I have no doubt about these 2 paintings. As I wrote before in this thread, I’m pretty sure that these 2 photographs was re-painted over, by the use of layers and masking, in Photoshop and or Painter, and by using some transparency here and there.

I think, that the girls in the 2 paintings are the same girl; and I’m pretty sure that it’s Linda herself-

By the way, I can say that those 2 are great art-pieces, and, as I said before, I give them 5 stars.

Moderators, please consider my suggestion to split the 2D forums in many parts, one for each technique. Thank you.

Best Wishes to everybody,

ago-stino

And I also would suggest a 2D “abstract paintings” section. thank you.

Very nice images. I’m sure that artists at Troika are jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

You would be fine addition to Troika’s art team. Although they need more help on the programming side. Timmy is damn talented designer (Fallout, Arcanum) but his programming (or management) skills are rather inadequate. All his games are really buggy (including ToEE and Vampire:Bloodlines).

#114

Wonderfull as always Linda,
I love all 3 pics ,

The only point I have to mention is that the white part of the eye - the sclera - of the first pic is a little too white for my taste.

Anyway jawdropping work !

#115

I like them!
Great!

#118

Redhead is just plainly beautiful!

My 5 stars for You, Linda.

#119

Yup, that is one of the most sensationally heart-warming pieces of portraiture your likely to see on any forum.

5-rating work, Linda
