I’m trying to blur out names on jerseys for some sports footage. This is multiple jerseys in the same frames, with different levels of zoom.
I’ve seen a bunch of tutorials on tracking, etc - but none say how I can do multiple blurs in the same frame, multiple tracking, etc.
Can someone please enlighten me on how to do this? Do I need to create a new null object and/or new null layers/copies? I’m very confused on how to go about this and would really appreciate some help!
You could have an adjustment layer with a blur effect and many masks on it. One mask for each jersey.
Then you need to animate the masks which you could do either by hand or using the AE tracker and the Tracker2Mask script. You can also track with Mocha, turn the tracking data into AE trackpoints with the Mocha Import script and then use Tracker2Mask with it.
I’m trying to implement this but I’m running into problems already
I made an adjustment layer, then added the blur effect to it, then created my masks using the rectangle tool on 4 jerseys. I then selected the sequence (it’s the only one that would let me track motion), and tracked the motion for the first object. After doing that, it took my masks off of all the jerseys and put them other places - I have no idea what. I have no idea how to link the masks up to the tracking.
I also have no idea how to even “stop” tracking. I tried using Tracker2Mask and I had to forcefully close down AE because it continued to track the video even when I wanted to only track a few seconds (there’s tons of parts in the video where I don’t need to blur anything.
Is there anyone that could show me step by step by step how to do this for a total beginner? I’m willing to pay good money!
You first have to track and then have to use tracker2mask. You don’t have to track until the end of the composition with Tracker2Mask. You can apply it on a single frame or also work with the work area.
