Aegis:2375 - A Collaborative Science Fiction Project

#1341

Ok, I’ve beeen in contact with Eric the concept artist and he’s unable to do more work on the design for a week or so.

However, I’ll make a few changes in the meantime.

I can reduce the calibre from what is probably .45 to 9mm. This will allow for more bullets in the clip. Thanks to Ronson, I’ve found a Glock 18, 33 round clip, so I can maybe incorporate part of that if we still want this to be a machine pistol.

If it’s to be an automatic, then there shouldn’t need to be much changed, but I’ll still change the calibre.

I will make a holster today, but without a concept drawing I’ll do what I can. I’ll source some different holster images of the web and find something that suits the gun.
Cheers,

Sonix.

Cool :).
I have been working on the textures of the hovership:

I was wondering, Mark, do you have any time available to work on a matte with me for the desert scenes? I am still in the process of creating one, maybe after I am done with it, you can look it over and see if there are any things to improve/add?

#1343

Hiya all,

Sure Victor always can make time for Aegis… looking forward to helping again

OH! and i love the hovership :applause:

I do have an observation…hope u dont mind.

Looking at the ammo, maybe a bullet guide/feeder is needed. Also the bullets may need to go in parallel to the turrets which would mean the pointy end of the bullets being fed in would face outwards…u can tell me to shut up now…lol

Cheers
Mark

#1344

Well, actually the bullets get rotate into place inside. So I dont need to rotate it ( it would also be quite hard to do so, because of the rotations that the gunbelt would have to make  ). About the bullet feeder. I don’t know a thing about guns. How does such a thing look ? :).

#1345

The textures look great Victor.

A small update from me on the machine pistol. (Click thumbnail to view, then resize image for full res (800x800) (15/12/05 - Updated render with a 8hr version.)

Changed calibre to 7mm. Clip now holds 24 rounds, 25 in total if one round is loaded.

Added casing ejection port on the side.

Will work on a leg holster today and anything else if neccesary.

Cheers,

Sonix.

#1346

I love it :). It is really well modeled. Very clean and convincing. One of the first futuristic guns that does not leave me wondering if it could actually exist :). Oh guys, I have also been contacted by a compositer and animator/modeler. So I am mailing with them about different stuff, could be nice additions to the team.

Update & test:

#1348

Sonix, man thats a fantastic job on a weapon…:applause:

Victor, That is looking so cool. all this high quality modelling is making me weak at the knees…lol

Cheers

Another small update. (I’ve also updated the link to the image above, for a better quality render.)

Removed casing ejection appature and mimiced the Desert Eagle style of ejection mechanism. (The previous design would be too easy to jam.)

Improved rear sight and created speed holster.

Refined fin grips used for cocking the weapon.

I’ll finish the holster today and if possible will do a render of the gun with a character.

Victor, the last render looks really good. I’ve been thinking about the ammo belt and that it does need rotating. I think if the bullet tips were pointing out instead of in, that way they could enter the weapon 90’ to how they are now. Just a thought.

Sonix.

#1350

Hiya all,

Hey Victor, I know I am a pain…but here are my thoughts on the ammo on the vehicle. Toss them out if not needed…lol
Love your work dude.

Sonix graet update

#1351

Cool stuff Sonix :).

Hmm, I don’t like the ammo boxes on the side of the gun. It makes the gun really wide. I do like the idea of adding a targeting display on the gun, and the changes in the cockpit. So I will look into those. About the bullets, you guys are a pain :). Ok, I will look into it, see if I can get it to work. But if I can’t get the belt to look natural, then I will keep them like this. I still don’t see why it would be impossible for the bullets to be rotated into place inside the gun. Heck, I could even add transparent plating to show you it is possible ;).

Mark, I was wondering, if you have time, could you continue on the storyboard? Because there are still parts of the script that are not storyboarded. We have a new member on the team who will create a pre-visualization of the entire trailer. So we can see if the timing and camera positions work. But to do this we need an entire storyboard finished.

#1352

Hehe  sorry to be a pain,

Ok tell me what u need and i shall deliver, be speciific please on what parts of the storyboard u need done…i have been out of the loop for a while now.

Cheers
Mark E5

#1353

Mark, you did the entire storyboard so far and it is on our private forum. We still have to do all the other shots in the script. Noone else has had the time to continue, besides, you are the best at drawing storyboards .

#1354

Sorry haven’t chimed in yet…Victor, all I can say is your work ROCKS…mega modelling and texturing…too talented for a programmer IMO! :stuck_out_tongue:

#1355

Thanks you for the kind words Soft ;).

The latest:

#1356

Ok guys, I am looking through all the meshes I have here ( lke 2 gigs of info ). I am going to find the most recent ones that look proper and I will place them on our private ftp soon. So they will be free for download for anyone on the team ;). I will probably have it done by the end of the day or tomorrow. Lots of work, hehe.

#1357

Wow Victor that is one sweet ride :arteest:

Now to make sure i am on the same page with the storyboards. I am up to Shot5 of the script?

Might be able to do some more before xmas…maybe…lol

We still on for the Matte painting??

Cheers
Mark E5

#1358

Yes we are still on for that matte painting :arteest: . But uhmm…I am still doing research in to how to actually integrate different layers together. Because for the high speed chase I am planning to use a couple of layers.

  • matte layer
  • moving cloud layers
  • desert low detail layer
  • desert high detail layer

So, I am still looking for info on all this, and offcourse busy texturing and talking to different people who want to join in on the action  .

About the script, everything that you have done so far on the storyboard is on the private forum. It looks like you have done everything up to shot 11 just before we go down to the planet surface.

oh cool i cant wait to see all this come together

I know where i am at with the storyboarding now…been a while hehe
