Aegis:2375 - A Collaborative Science Fiction Project

#1321

Well school justed started back up, so I don’t have much time to model until I finish a couple papers I have to do, so here is what I have now, I will have the a version with some updates as soon as I finish my papers. No mesh smooth is applied to it so its pretty low poly.

#1322

Ah, looks cool

I also have an update:

#1323

CAC12…gun is looking great.

Victor Oh yes that looks cool and so much beeter looking than the concept :applause:

#1324

Sorry its taking me so long to do some simple modeling, but school is being a real pain, my teachers are assigning like almost 5 to 6 hours of home work a night. O yea a couple things about the gun, it is for both left and right handed, you can see this with the cocking lever and shell ejecector on both sides. The the main things I have left to do is make reload slider, make srews etc…, and make a rubber type stock thing on the rear.

#1325

Hi, nice work man :). Very well modelled. Just take your time, currently a part of the team has entered the challenge here on CGTalk. So things are slow anyway.

#1326

Is this project still going strong? I’m looking for something to model, was wondering if you guys had anything else you needed done?
I would love to try one of those huge ships…or anything realy. Everything is looking great so far! Keep up the good work.

#1327

i will follow this thread until its finish .

#1328

Just checking in, I’m starting my work up again on this great project.

Will post updates as and when.

Victor, I checked in at the AEGIS forums, you still using them mate?

Cheers,

Sonix.

#1329

Sonix, just use this thread for now. The teamforum is not active at the moment. Actually I have not seen anyone doing any work for the last couple of months or so. So I think it might be time to entirely rebuild a new team, and make a new thread about the project. Have a new opening post and all. So people can really see condensed what we have done. I am also planning to put together some short animations so people can see what to expect. Hopefully that will get the project on the road again.

#1330

No worries mate, you’ve got my email address if you can’t get hold of me through here or the team boards.

Yesterday I worked a bit on environments:

I also finished the materials on the destroyer, but they are on the my other comp. Boy1da also send me the stuff he did for us on the Hovership. It looks really cool, so I am going to finish that model too.

Anyway, I am going to build a short promo with a fight scene between the UTAF and Ceph on the planet surface:

  • Finish an environment map ( you can see the start of that up there
  • Finish the crashed ship ( the UTAF hovers are moving towards that )
  • Model a helmet for the pilots ( pilot mesh is done )
  • Finish Texturing the Hovership
  • Build high detail path for the hoverships to follow
  • Special Effects ( I hope that I can find someone to do this for me  )

Anyway, a lot of the groundwork has already been done to put something together. So I might be able to build some spacescenes without to much trouble. And a ground trailer too. Should look good :). With that new stuff I am planning to start a new, clean thread.

#1332

That sounds great
However I never contributed anything to this topic, I kinda feel close to this project.
I don’t know why I didn’t contribute anything…
Guess because the quality of all these models is so high
I’ll try doing something like a transporter someday (I’ve read a few months ago that you’ll never have enough of these, for chase scenes and such  )

#1333

Ok, cool Bot13, looking forward to it :).
Started a thread on the hovership right here.

#1334

Hiya All,

Nice to see there is still a faint heart beat in this project

I like the environment and I cant wait to see what u and Omar have been up to on that hover ship.

Chat soon
Mark E5

#1335

Hi Mark :). Don’t worry, it is not that faint. I just had a couple of busy months. But now I am back on the job again. Actually I have finished texturing the destroyer. Rigged a soldier, did some extra texture work on it. Trying to figure out the environments. Also texturing the hovership. So I should be able to put something cool together in a couple of weeks. With the finished material I will start a new thread, and see if I can attract some new blood :).

My weekend’s work. USMT-MP1A Machine pistol concept.

Modeled from the excellent concept drawn up by Eric Chiang, in approx 20hrs with Blender 3D, rendered with Maxwell Render beta in 2hrs.

Only issue I have, is that you can’t fit 30 rounds in the magazine clip, as stated on the concept sketch.

(Victor, perhaps you could link the concept sketch, if you feel it neccesary.)

Cheers,

Sonix.

#1337

Loks good :)! Don’t worry about the clipsize. I was already looking for some small arms to use. So this will be perfect. Do you think you can also create a holster for it? So I can put it on the leg of a character.

#1338

I like the pistol. I would perhaps change it to be a mini rocket/missile launcher. 30 round clip isn’t much for a machine gun (machine pistol). A small rocket launcher would be a cool weapon for a for reasons.

You could build a ejection port for the flare from the rocket launch just above the trigger location. To take the flare from the rockets away from the launcher (making it recoiless). Like a titan missle silo (about 2000 times smaller though).

The clip could contain many different types of rockets (missiles). From heat seeking to antiarmour and so on. This would make it very versitile from a hand held point of view and somewhat futuristic aswell. You could build a clip aswell that could hold a converter and make the pistol a conventional semi automatic for anti personel. Perhaps retaining the anti-recoil ejection system. With the rockets/missiles there is no left over shell to eject but the bullets would need something.

The Glock 18 and 18C are fully automatic hand guns. They have a mag cap of 17 rounds. So 30 is perhaps a good number. I tried to find the firing rate though at full auto - no luck.

Great looking model though very cool design…

Thank you for the information. Sonix, what do you think, can you make those adjustments. I like the idea of a powerful handgun. Hehe, it kind of reminds me of Man in Black 2 :).

sweet piece of hardware there sonix…
