Hiya Paul,

Nice to see your interest, You have some great skills there. I feel the wind has gone out of the sails and we were looking for a gust of wind. In my opinion we need to focus on a part of this project and exploit it. I know Jozef has done alot of work on the station but its maybe too big for all of us. We have ship models and other stuff. What are your thoughts guys… Less is more.

I have been downloading some cool reels and animations from CGTalk…very insirational. I reckon 5 minute trailer MAXIMUM

I’m not really a part of this project.
But I agree with Paul, allot of good work has been done already.
I think all the stuff that has been made already should be put
together in a short animation weather they are done or not.
Animate them and treat it as if they are all completed.
put sound and music to it.

once that is done, then go back over it, as assets
are completed go back into it and replace the uncompleted parts
in the animation as you go along, but keep the focus on
that small animation. Until it looks ideal.
In the worst case, at least the work of the artist will get
to shine and get some exposure shown in action.

Maybe Paul can handle all the raw models and files and
assemble them into shots that can be rendered.
That way you can see it clear what needs to be done over or added
later on down the road. it will be a sort of an animatic I guess.

A good example is the space station, it is good as it is for now.
Put it in a shot, say a ship has to land on a part of the station.
then that part will be the part that will be completed at a better
quality after the first draft of the animation is done.
it would be a waste if Jozef models the whole thing .
only to show a small part of it in the end, or just a far shot of it.

Well that’s my 2 cents:shrug:

Well I have to say that I agree with you guys maybe making this animation will put the project back on track would be a real pity to see it die like this.
The models can bu used no problem. I could help texturing not really that good at it yet but just to give it a try. I could do some rendering, some animation etc. So just keep me posted I hope this will put the project back on track

im liking what im reading around here, im very much of the opinion that we need to cut this whole thing back to basics, even a 30 second trailer would be nice…just a quick shot of some ships flying about, shooting and exploding… then maybe some shots of wireframes and various technical bit, as has been mentioned, exploit what has allready been done.

the beauty of that is that relativly little extra work has to undertaken as there are a number of vessels constructed allready, and for those unconstructed, we have concept art, which can also be inserted into the trailer (of which i am happy to assemble and do basic editing)

i know ive not been around …well, at all as of late, but ive had way too much to deal with recently, sorry if ive let anyone down, but im going to try to put as much spare time as i can into this project now that things have settled down a little bit.

i’m still around for doing the backgrounds more than likely in collaboration with mark…i must admit i have a full desk at this point so i can’t get too crazy, but i love this project and will do what i can, i already have the sol sytem done and finishing the XM-13 model wouldn’t require to much more work. i’ve also tweaked the earth alittle bit so it looks as good or better than maxfx’s :stuck_out_tongue: hee-hee

hey everyone from the project.
i don’t even know if you all remember me too well. i helped out a little bit several months ago. just wanted to say that i’m impressed to see element is still at it wth the hot concept work and its nice to see this greentek fella showing interest. sounds like a good guy. i hope things can get to moving again. good thought on the 1.5 minute target greentek. i’d say anything over that is asking way more than you should.

anyway, thought i’d just say hello to dean and element and the rest of the gang!

Woohoo looks like resurrection up here. Good to see the project it being reanimated :wink:

I have like 4 days of weekend because of some fc**d up strikes so I will have 4 complete days to work on the project. I’m just wondering what is going to be the next step do I go on working on the spacestation or are there any other more urgent things to do. Im still reading through the website to be completly up to date but if there is something to do just let me know

Dene talked to me about Drives that are going to be made in the spacestation factory he told me to make them huge and with different aspects etc

here is what I came up with. anybody has some comments? the small block next to it is a “person” just for reference :). I’ll post a very small animation also just to give some ideas I had with them drives

thats cool, i will say that after viewing the avi, the sections need to rotate at a constant speed (instead of slowing down, and changing rotation)
