Aegis:2375 - A Collaborative Science Fiction Project

#61

Hello everyone… if i may some ideas?

I’m gonna say Brown and Blue as reference to the each Aegis concept.

I must say that i liked the front from the brown. It looks like a sturdy piece, somehow it reminds me of a train. I did like the closing on the docking bays on the brown one, though i like it better from the blue one. I also liked the “belt” before the bridge on the blue one. We love the bridge on the brown. The circular port on the side on the blue. The front “engines” design from the brown one with the pointy parts, but the initial design from the blue one =). Uhm, the cannon array on the front of the blue. The slightly bent back on the brown (Where the front engines is located). The slick look of the bridge from the brown. The slick look on the whole front from the blue (Where all the bays and stuff is). And finally some of the “heavy” looking design from the brown (the “blockyness”).

Well i hope that gave some ideas or something, that was just some stuff that caught my eyes :).

Btw: I did some markups on the concept on some parts, i dont have a reliable site to upload the to yet, so if its urgent you wanna look at them i’ll mail them:p

still, the main thing is that the ship needs to look bloody massive, seeing as it IS bloody massive!

#63

WOW…this is definatly on the right track!!!
you’ve got the proportions just about right! im REALLY liking this!!
ok…now for the next stage…(i’m such a damn slave-driver!!! )

  1. can you angle the rear section into more of a V shape please? (imagine a line directly accross the ship (width) as 0, the rear section would be angled back at about 20-25 degrees
    2. can we have a eliptical main dock at the rear side please? (set dead centre)
  2. though the windows provide a sense of scale they are actully non-existent. external views are provided by sensors and transmitted on to the internal polymer coating of the ship.
    4. the surface protrusions need to be a little more streamlined
  3. i like the way you’ve palced large sections at the front with detail in the gaps between the joins…can we have some more of this sort of thing please?
    6. this looks menacing now…hehehe!
    7. can you widen the ‘nose’ section a tiny bit more please?
  4. i like what you’ve done with the thrusters!!! though they will need to be angled up to 30 degrees so maybe a little less recessed?
  5. the rear-underside of the Aegis is dedicated to orbital-assault weaponry, so sticky-out-bits here please!! (angled 30 degrees forward)
    10. i like the way some of the lines flow into each other…more of that please!!!
  6. the protrusion at the rear of the ship is an overhang, thrusters line the back of the vessel (same design as the reversing thrusters, smaller thrusters in the gaps)
well..thats enough from me for now...ive allready made myself a maximum pain in the arse!!!

Just wanna say... EXCELLENT work Mark, i REALLY appreciate it!!!!!!!!

btw Zurak…if u need a reliable site try http://photobucket.com/

So this is my first render to the project, so go easy on me guys…

Theres a lot of detail left to put in the main corridor, so comments are welcome.

I just have one doubt, since im new to the 3d scene, should i do the detail or try to simulate the detail with the future textures?

Mark you are doing a fine job, awsome work man.

#67

dude…that great!! i like what youve done here!

the only crits i have are some of the placements of various components…ill make a cross section for you before this time tomorrow (if im not too busy)

EXCELLENT JOB…

#68

Hey Zag, good model, you should try to model as much of the detail as you can.
Because with textures you will not get kool shadows when you light it.
As well as for close up shots.

I use to try to do all my details with maps but found that it always looked too flat.

#69

as promised…1 corridor cross section
(ok…i just updated this…slight error in the old one)

#70

Hehehe, i like the word “crawl space” =), it feels like there is always something about crawling in a vent duct or something in a series (Galaxy Quest i think).
I was just wondering if the stair also goes up to another section (if there is a section above that level)?
And as a side question: How many meters is 9 feet? =) (I’m too lazy to look it up)

Today i’m in a relly great mood…

if you look at the first corridor sketch, you can see the ‘up’ ladder. its offset from the ‘down’ ladder so the maintainance personel dont fall to thier deaths!!
these ladders are for emergancy access only and are usulally covered with a panel / door thing. access to upper/lower levels is by ramp (wiill upload ramp segment concept soon) or, if you want to go more than 2 or 3 decks up, you can use a lift.

btw: that crawl space…its JUST big enough for 1 person to crawl down… should make for some interesting scenes!!!

and 9ft is 2.7 meters (270cm / 22.5 inches)
(100cm to the meter, 30cm to the foot)

hiya,

ok here is the MK V Aegis, i hope i got your specs right. If there are more changes could you illustrate them on the image so that nothing is lost in the translation.
Its just I may read it and interperate it a totally different way. I work better with imagery. Hope thats ok.
I am enjoying this one alot and spent all day on it. My new super dooper computer at work has been sent back to the shop (i had only 1/2 an hour playing on it)… thats what happens when you trust a company to deliver a comp that works straight up. So i had time to kill today …bonus hehe
Hear from you soon

#73

HOLY S**T!!!

Mark…i…the…wow!

i’ll post something a little more rational later…

#74

Hey guys, been following your thread for the last few days and its all looking really good. Id really like to help out in any way I can as a hardware modeller/ texturer. The massive cruiser is looking awsome, mind if i give it a go?

Wayne

#75

Wow… Mark you kick ass.

Great piece you got there, the project is taking a very nice shape guys.

Tonight i will post the corridor with the modifications you’ve asked Dean. With the plant of the corridor you made my job more easyer… heheheh

I was thinking in adding new details to the corridor, like cables, loose wires, etc. will see how that works.

Paulo

#76

hey Wayne,

i dont mind you doing a render of the ship…you probably should ask mark though (element5) as its his (amazing) artwork.
i warn you though. the design is quite likely to change (but marks hands may yet fall off!! haha! ).

#77

sounds good, Paulo!!

looking forward to seeing that!!
not too sure about the loose cables and pipes though…unless you do a ‘damaged’ version.

your work is appreciated!!!

#78

ok no worries dude, Ill wait till the design is finalised, I was just itching to get modelling i guess. Let me know if you have anyting final.

btw I sent you a prvt message the other day

#79

Wayne, i sent you an email not 30 mins after i read your message. didn’t you get the email? if not ill PM you the contents of that mail…if i still have it (here’s hoping!! haha). basically the email just said pretty much what was in the previous post addressed to you.

Mark, i’ll get doing those sketches later today, probably in the evening when im free. tell you what though, i’m totally blown away by this latest design…really!! the level of detail is just …wow! you kick arse! thankyou so much for contributing to this project!!! (which, i imagine wouldn’t be half what it is without your imput).

Hiya all,

Thanx for the great feedback Dene, Wayne and Zag…

I am glad i got the wow factor…makes me so happy.
I am glad i am getting to keep my skills uptodate…
Good to get stuff out there so all can see…

Now all we need is some big movie/game company to see our stuff and maybe work on a big production… I know i am dreaming hehe
