AE viewport to clipboard?

#1

This is actually a very simple thing:

Is it possible to copy the After Effects viewport to the clipboard? Many times I have to show a client a snapshot from the project (or have to edit a still frame in PS), and usually I did a printscreen, pasted the thing in Photoshop, cropped it and saved it from there. Those are a little too many steps for such a simple task, plus, as soon as the AE frame is too big to be seen completely (like 1080p material) this doesn’t work anymore. Rendering out a single frame in AE isn’t that easy either, as you have to setup the output first and I don’t necessarily want an intermediate file on my harddrive.

So, is there any function to do this? Internally AE should have the current frame in memory, so why not just dump it to the clipboard with a simple button or shortcut?

Copy Image from Obvious FX… Only up to CS4.

Ah, thanks for the tip. Sadly no CS5 version :frowning:

It’s ridiculous, that this needs to be a plug-in though.
