ADVERT : Fanboy "Inspired by District 9" - Video training

#1

Hey there!

If you didn’t already know, over the last year or so, I’ve been producing a project-based set of video training to build, UV map and texture paint up a District 9-style weapon inspired by the great film using LightWave 10/11 and Photoshop. I’ve just finished up the last set of videos on texture painting - its been a slow process fitting it in alongside the rest of everyday life and work, but its now done and dusted…

For those who haven’t done the previous two videos, not a worry - the 3D object is included (in 5 file formats with the training so that anybody can follow along (including non-LW users ))

I cover the whole process from start to finish using Adobe Photoshop, as well as LightWave 11. All assets needed for the project are included, with 86 texture/grunge image maps and a set of grunge brushes for Photoshop – and of course the 3D model too.

If you’re interested, you can CLICK HERE. This is an approximate 1.1Gb download in 3 files. And until 31st May 2012, the guys on the site have a 25% off sale… (coupon mem2012)

NOTE:
If you’re interested in doing the whole project from start to end (modeling, UV and texture painting) then I’ve also compiled the lot into a combo deal that’s roughly 30% cheaper then the 3 separate parts bought together. That discount code also takes it down to around $44.95 for 14 hours of video, loads of assets (models, textures, modelsheets, etc). Its around 4.7Gb in 10 zip files.

If you just want to learn to model, or just how to UV map this object, then those are also available.

PSST! While the file was too large to attach here, for anybody wanting to play with the 3D model itself (its blank - ie. no surfacing) then the LWO version is available on the L3D forum here… Its UV unwrapped as well…
