Well, here’s hoping for an Undo that doesn’t require two different commands. I’d love an Undo that covered everything instead of an Undo and a Step Back.
Adobe CS5 is coming
Why dont you change the mapping of ctrl+shift+z to ctrl+z and you got what you want. The undo and a step back function is needed and useful.
But Sheep…they do exactly the same thing so why separate the two? I just don’t get it and I’ve been a user of 'shop since 2.5. To this day it is the one thing that bugs me. Mostly on a why is it like that point of view more than anything else.
Edit: I could understand if the Step Back did something different from Undo - like how Silo has a separate undo for selections - but an Undo and a Step Back that essentially do the same thing seems redundant for redundancy’s sake.
Still…we just added Undo in Poser like two versions ago so I guess I’m not really one to talk.
That´s what I thought too.
PS has the most powerfull step back function (protocol window) as any other app I know.
But i agree, the Shortcuts could be inverse by default.

If you mean the difference between ctrl+z , ctrl-shift+z , its because undo (ctrl+z) lets you quickly see the differences if you did a change, say the effect of a filter/adjustment, you can quickly flip back and forth. Stepping back is really about erasing history if you made a wrong turn somewhere.
NO, if there is a way to step back, then there is still a way to step forward.
Sounds annoying? Then watch the protocol manager.
You wont lose protocol information (history) untill you erase or overstep them!
Before you run you must learn to walk.

As far as the logo goes notice that the letters are in 3d with a drop shadow on the background. The letters are also not simple text but look like 3d models. The model is made up of wood boxes that have parts cut in etc. And the light source is probably ray traced. Not for sure just guessing by the look of it. They are clearly trying to show off a major feature.
But yes it could be a better design.
So from that and a few winks and nods I’d say CS5 got a major 3d upgrade.
If Adobe is so keen on 3D, why didn’t they aquire a decent 3D editor by now?
Why the hell are they still throwing tasteless 3D features into an already bloated app?
Why do they need to buy some 3d editor instead of making their own IF they want one?
How is photoshop bloated? I find every feature in there usefull, in CS3 that is, havent tried CS4.
You can crank up Photoshop like no other app (actions, styles, brushes, gradients, plug-ins ect.), that´s true, but with the stock features I don´t think it is a bloated app either.

anyone hear any news about after effects other than it’s going to be 64bit only? Curious to see what new features they add in CS5
I don´t know much more as you for After Effects CS5 but there are some really stirring things going on for Premiere Pro CS5:
Edit: I took the wronk link.

A few reasons. The interface is very different (from a workflow POV) so it wants the artist to
change how he/she works and interacts with the software (much like Zbrush vs. Maya/Softimage/Max). Not the fault of Adobe or Imagineer, but in making these two work together (which is certainly appreciated, BTW) it exposes the differences between the two.
Also, transferring data between the two apps is dodgy at times, due to having to COPY the motion data, then go into AE and paste it. While this is not difficult,
it isn’t quite elegant (or intuitive) either.
However, the software itself (Mocha) is great, as is AE. It’s just a shame that Mocha is the solution
(an external application) instead of the solution being within AE, that’s all.
I thought this was rather mindblowing:

Content aware controls.
It does indeed look very powerful, I hope it doesn’t lead people to be sloppy tho’, I mean, the 1st example of removing the trees resulted in a look of dust spots where the content aware did the job.
The last example looks very good, but how did it compute the irregular sky, or more so the rocky areas, the contours look very natural in places!!! Are they doing some sort of Microsoft (can’t remember the name) montage of peoples images taken from around the world before blending to give the sense of realistic content awareness?
Really good stuff…
… new ps and just hope that those guys from Adobe will think about all of us who use ps as painting tool.
It would be great if they have listen to people and made some changes especially in brush section(just something little bit closer to painter-concerning blending)
Also some perspective grid tool(something easy and on a click of a button)
Also shit+click for straight line, or keyboard v like in painter would be nice
eh…
